It's a reference to "The Sunday Comics". That and it's Japanese, and they like pulling loan words from English and then using them in completely different ways than we do. The worst one being "pants". Don't ever tell a Japanese person you like their "pants". They use the term to mean "underwear". That's actually what "pants" means in England, too, so...the Japanese actually didn't make that one up. Don't forget the rest of the UK. England's only one piece of a larger whole. ;D Never could wrap my head around how the Americans use the word "pants". It's just wrong.

Woo: Thank you, 2ch. Premiere date is Saturday 10/3 on Nihon TV (it only gives "overnight" as the time, though), and Monday 10/5 on Yomiuri TV at 25:44 (which would technically be 1:44 in the morning on the 6th). That equates to 10/5 at 12:44 in the afternoon Eastern time for us. Opening will be performed by Do as Infinity, ending by AAA.

I think that is 9:44 AM here on the West Coast (sometimes get my counting backwards mixed up ) Is there any hint, any where, of when it might be HERE? (i.e. THE REST OF THE WORLD? , just to be fair to everyone.) Naraku looks rather, umm, like, a..., like some of the patients at the mental hospital where I work. Hard to describe; a bit creepy. Of course, he did go somewhat bonkers there, at the end.

(i.e. THE REST OF THE WORLD? , just to be fair to everyone.) Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Viz simulcasted it online the way Funimation does the new Fullmetal Alchemist series. I know they already have the show licensed, and they've been putting old Inuyasha episodes up on Hulu.com. And whether they do or don't, I'm sure someone will be fansubbing it (not likely to be me, though, as I don't have the will or the time anymore, though I'll probably be doing synopsis/reviews from the raws over on Inu Goya like I did with the first series when it was still running). Also, given that it has a 1:44am timeslot means the show is not likely to be censored like the first one was (since the first series ran at 7:00 in the evening). So, no more black blood or toned-down violence, and we could very well actually get the beheadings and dismemberings from the original.

But how would that work? I work, therefore I probably couldn't watch it at the broadcast time. And I don't know if there is anyway to "record" while I away. Would it be online for a period of of few days, so working stiffs like me could get a chance to see it? And where would I go to find it?

It's not going to be on TV in the US at that time. Unless you can find a site streaming live Japanese television, none of us can watch it real-time. But someone in Japan will inevitably record the show online and then post a torrent of it a few hours after the broadcast for people to download. And if Viz does end up putting it online, it'll probably be on Hulu or something for you to watch whenever you want.

It's a bit tough, cause having to read the dubs, I feel I can't concentrate ON the episodes. I've reached the last one loaded, Shippo and the Heart Scar. I think I'm surfeited on it. I kowtow ten thousand times! ;D

Here's a link to a better scan, including the Rinne information on the opposing page. Apparently the first and second volumes of Kyoukai no Rinne will be released together on the 16th of October. There's also a repeat of the release information for the Rumic World boxset.

Sunrise's website has basic information for the first two episodes up now:
Episide 1: "Naraku's Heart" (Naraku no Shinzou) Scenario: Sumisawa Katsuyuki Storyboard: Aoki Yasunao Director: Watada Shinya Animation Director: Nakajima Rie
Episode 2: "Kagura's Wind" (Kagura no Kaze) Scenario: Sumisawa Katsuyuki Storyboard: Aoki Yasunao Director: Toba Akira Animation Director: Sugimoto Sachiko
The animation director for the episode is usually the staff member I'm most interested in, since they're the one in charge of how it looks overall as far as character models and animation styles. Nakajima Rie is from the old series and I'd give her art kind of a "Meh". She directed the Black Tessaiga OAV and has a habit of giving people huge eyes and flat noses. Sugimoto Sachiko is a newcomer, though, so we'll have to see how her art shapes up. Too bad we probably won't get Ikeda Shouko to direct any episodes this season since her success with Suzumiya Haruhi in the meantime has left her and Kyoto Animation quite comfortable as a stand-alone studio rather than commissioning episodes for various shows like they were doing five years ago.

Woo, more crap. Got these off the iKunlun message board: Magazine scan 1Magazine scan 2Magazine scan 3The Newtype scan also has a preview summary of the first episode: Kagome returns to the Sengoku Jidai with Inuyasha, where one of Naraku's detachments, Hakudoushi, steals her Shikon shard. During the battle with Hakudoushi, Goryoumaru appears. Inuyasha and the others hear of Naraku's important secret from Kagura. Elsewhere, Sango reunites with Kohaku, who has regained his memory...To me, this sounds like they're skipping the Medicine Vendor and Hitoukon stories and starting with an altered version of chapter 363 that's fused with the events beginning in 368. The second scan notes that with the advent of digital animation technology in the five years since the previous series ended (seriously, it's been that long?), to expect some impressive action scenes in this new season.

From what I could see of the fight scene in the "Black Tessaiga" short (crappy cell phone video and official preview on youtube), they did a pretty job on the fight scenes in that one. Or, at least, a prettier job than what we could see in the first series. I hope they keep up that work throughout this new series. From those pictures, it looks like it will be good either way. Color makes EVERYTHING better.

I am excited for this shit. Everybody looks great. :DD (...aw shit, the designs on the bottom of Byakuya's sleeves are BLUE?) I guess in that design, they are. I seem to remember in the color image of him on the inside flap of one of the last volumes of the manga, they were orange. I wouldn't worry too much about coloring, since Sesshoumaru's outfit is blue instead of red in the manga, too. Another thing I'm hoping is that we get some new BGM for Kanketsu-hen. Black Tessaiga used music that was completely from the original series. The new Slayers season last year also relied solely on music from the original seasons (aside from, oddly, a single new track). So I hope Mr. Wada comes up with some new stuff for this season so that important scenes like Kagura's death or the ending don't get landed with stock music that was written for something else.

I agree. I think Wada's music is far too good for him not to come up with some awesome new tracks, especially with Byakuya coming onto the scene. If you have a new, semi-important character, you have to have some theme music for him.
Besides, the music was the thing that MADE the original series, at least for me.
