Holycrap, it was actually real: Inuyasha Final Chapter Gets TV Anime Green-litMy only concern is that the illustration on that page has Kagome in the wrong outfit for the final chapter. But I'm guessing it's just promo art and not actually from the episode. But, damn. There goes the cynic in me. I guess this means that Inu Goya might have to be resurrected pretty soon.

HOMG. *dies* HOLY shit. I've been waiting for this to happen for SO LONG. I am SO PUMPED right now I can't even tell you. EDIT: And not the least reason is because this will probably inject some life into what seems like a dying fandom. WIN/WIN.

Patches, are you going to don your fansubber hat again? It depends on who's asking me to do it. You? Absolutely not. The original IY4Ever staff? Also unlikely unless they can prove they can get their act together and actually work. And if it turns out Viz decides to go the same route with the new Inuyasha that Funimation did with the new Fullmetal Alchemist, and have their own online version available days after the original broadcast, then there's no point, anyway.

I would like to know if this is a single movie, or a bunch of episodes? The article didn't make that clear. I would guess a movie, but can you imagine trying to get 210 chapters into two hours? And if they did do episodes, how many would there be? And would Black Tessiaga be considered part of that? It's already mid-July, can they even get anything out by mid-Fall? Unless... dun, dun, dun; they were working on this already! Since they were working on Black Tessaiga, it would be easy to just continue working on the rest. "It's a Conspiracy!!!" They're trying to drive all us InuYasha fans crazy! ;D

No word yet on a timeslot, though (the original anime ran on Mondays at 7pm, I think).

I think there are about 25? episodes a season. Even with all the extraneous plotlines left out, there would still be alot of story to get through.

Here's a better scan of the full spread from this week's Shounen Sunday: i174.photobucket.com/albums/w119/inu-papa/kanketsuhen-announce.jpgOther news on that page include the release date for the OAV DVD (January 29th, 2010), and announcements that the Inuyasha cellphone site has been updated and the video-on-demand site now carries the whole original sereies.

I am so happy I could cry! My first instinct was to come here and see if Goya was awake. ;D But I didn't see an update on Kuro's site. Does she know?

Hm, according to "insider" reports, Kanketsu-hen is only going to be 26 episodes long. That's... not much time to get through 200 chapters, since you can only fit about 3-4 chapters in an episode without cutting or rushing.
Though I seriously wouldn't mind the year-long Tessaiga upgrade arc to get chopped out. He can absorb Dakki's power and learn about the youketsu, but all the crap about "senki" and the Kinka-Ginka thing and the bake-neko story ended up being useless in the overall scheme of things, so there's no loss axeing those. And as much as I liked Kai, his little storyarc wasn't particularly necessary, either.
In any case, if the 26-episode thing turns out to be true, we're not going to be whining about slow pacing this time around. I just hope it doesn't turn into a hack-job like episode 165 did, that tried to cram, like, 10 chapters into one episode and cut out a ton.

Actually, I found Kai's storyline to be vital to Kouga's departure from the storyline. The anime could cut it out, however, by using Ayame because the themes Kai brings into the manga have already been brought into the anime by Ayame. if the anime are cutting corners, Ayame would be useful on that front.
That said, I hope too many corners aren't cut. There's not much in Inuyasha that I found irrelevant to the story - if it wasn't directly related to the jewel and/or Naraku plot, then it was related to character development in some way. I can live without the Flame Tessaiga arc as well - the only use that arc had to me was the sibling rivalry and Jaken sneezing joke. That by itself is not a very good reason to keep that arc in.
Previously, they had an average of 3 chapters per episode, they could actually cover the remainder in 26 episodes if they averaged around 6 chapters per episode at most. That's not as bad as the hack-job that was episode 165, but it covers things faster than original episodes did.
Edited to add... okay, I'm in too much pain to do simple calculations. It's more like 8 chapters per episode, perhaps even 9... which is much worse.

According to the Shounen Sunday website, next week's (9/9) issue will have some more Inuyasha Kanketsuhen information, possibly a broadcast date and likely some new images.

You will let us know what it says, of course? By the way, just out of curiosity, why do they call it Shounen ' Sunday'? Since it comes out on Wednesday, I just wondered.

If I can find a scan of the announcement, though I would assume the YTV and/or Sunrise websites will be updated with the same information around the same time. It's a reference to "The Sunday Comics". That and it's Japanese, and they like pulling loan words from English and then using them in completely different ways than we do. The worst one being "pants". Don't ever tell a Japanese person you like their "pants". They use the term to mean "underwear".

That's actually what "pants" means in England, too, so...the Japanese actually didn't make that one up.
