Chapter 126 is up. I'm hoping from here on out Wakage is more integrated into the party and I can be done with chapters focused on her introducing her skill sets and fighting styles. Next chapter should be moving on to the mountain.

Chapter 127 is up. Sorry for so many chapters in a row of Wakage-centric stuff, but she didn't have 100 chapters of characterization, history, and motive leading up to this like the other two did, so she deserves a bit of time to make her case.

Chapter 128 is up. This chapter is somewhat longer than the average of the last few since there really wasn't any need to break it apart and I just wanted to get the whole "ascending the mountain" bit out of the way at once. And that's even after Puppy helped me chop out almost a page worth of pointless padding.

Reminder that next month is April, so the chapter update may not be what it seems.

The real Chapter 129 is up and the April Fool's chapter has been archived in the Picture Book in case you missed it.

The title of this month's chapter gave me headaches because I found a really great Japanese saying that fit the chapter perfectly, but I couldn't think of an appropriately succinct and poignant way to say it in English. So, the English title is only a vague resemblance. The Japanese title is 渡る世間に鬼はない (Wataru Seken ni Oni wa nai), which literally means "Cross the world and you find no oni". The gist behind it being "Take the time to know people and you'll find no one is really evil". I felt it was appropriate for this chapter since it deals with oni, judging whole groups based on the actions of a few, and how you treat people who have done bad things if you personally know them vs. don't know them.

Not sure if anyone is still reading, but chapter 131 is up. If you didn't understand Kijin's ability to count months (no, it's not what Akagane thinks it is), note that he's the first half-breed with human blood we've come across, and recall what happens to the half-human half-breeds in the original series once a month.

For what it's worth, i still check in every month when I can! I'm super invested in this storyline, ngl. Also I came because I was curious about the counting months thing and now I feel silly. |D;

The more you write these characters out, and the more there's questioning of morals and choices, the more I admire the writing. YOU ASK THE REAL QUESTIONS.

I'm glad there's still people reading. I don't really have any kind of reliable hit counter to know if anyone's looking (since my web stats count both real visitors and search engine bots).

And I'm glad someone likes the moral dilemmas. Sometimes I get worried that I drag things out way too much with characters constantly weighing the implications of everything they do, and trying to come up with some sort of logically consistent framework of what determines right from wrong. But that's kind of become the whole theme of the story. I also worry that it's getting too dark and heavy, since it's been a long time since we had a purely "light" story like the trip-to-the-city arc, and I don't really see an opportunity for something like that in the near future.

=D I am usually a ninja around the site, lol (except when I'm reading chapters or referencing recipes!). I'd be sad if you stopped writing though, this is worth the read. I rp Inupapa on DW and half-wish I could use this stuff as background story, heh. It's pretty convincing to me.

And hey, I like the dark stuff, and I kind of expected it given the fact that Inupapa would have to face Souzou Tennou eventually. I'm really digging the idea of grey morality, if it could be considered that in some cases, with Wakage and Kijin. Introspection is also fun to read, especially when you see the main character learning from it. I mean it's pretty convincing! 100% believable that he'd be thinking about that sort of stuff.

While I hope that there'll be some light stuff in the far future, I'm not afraid of the darkness. :U

Chapter 132 is out. This chapter was mostly setup for the next one, so hopefully it's still a decent read. Also, when looking up words to use for the chapter title, I discovered that a word for "strategic location" is "Tennou-zan" (天王山), which is literally "Tennou Mountain". The word also means "watershed" and "crucial turning point". Like... srsly? I'm not doing this intentionally, I swear.

Hey, long time no see! People are just suddenly coming out of the woodwork nowadays and it's great, with how quiet it's been the past year or so. ^_^* But, no, while I do intentionally plan out some stuff, a lot of stuff just ends up being happy coincidences that I wasn't originally planning for. I'll take 'em when I get 'em, though.

Hey, I finally made a couple more manga pages for "Memoirs", this time from chapter 62. I don't think I could manage to draw the heavy stuff, so I stick to the more silly stuff, which generally means I need to reach back further in the story. ^_^*
