Awwww. Fluffyness! (No! No! Not You! Down boy!) Heehee! Although, considering how long they have been dancing around, pretending to look the other way, I'm not that surprised.

Holy shit, it's Myouga (it seems like).
That was...totally unexpected. Nice.
(Haha, "Nomitengu.")

That was a completely random entry into the story for Myouga (it is Myouga, isn't it?). I really enjoyed that chapter.
And a nice cliffhanger at the end, too.

Hm... so is Myouga's (yeah, it's him) introduction a pleasant surprise or kind of awkwardly random? I know I haven't gone into much detail yet as to why exactly he's there, but I'm hoping it all eventually makes sense to people. I needed to introduce him in this arc somewhere, and to me this just seemed like a comical and somewhat unexpected way to do it. The ending to the chapter is sort of an ominous foreshadowing of things to come, but I want to try to keep things light for now in spite of that, and I think Myouga is a good way to do that (though simple comic relief isn't the main reason I need him at this point, that'll come later).

It was random as in "pleasantly unexpected". I'm playing with American slang and not doing a very good job of it.

Nah, nah, I think it worked out just fine. In fact, I was wondering if it was him, or not. The important things are A) is he really under a spell, B) is Ryakki REALLY his daughter, and C) do you mean ominous, or do you mean OMINOUS? Hmmmmm?

Nah, it was a GOOD unexpected. I was like "...a-HAH!"
Haha, Ladyjanegrey, I dunno if this is the case, but I seriously suspect Myouga of being a sneaky bastard and taking advantage of some kid by pretending to be her dad (although that would probably mean her dad is dead, which....would really suck for her.)

I dunno. It was a cool surprise, but it does seem a little awkwardly random. Like, half and half. But, I have faith in you!
I know it's probably just my own tastes, but this arc itself is kind of awkward for me. The beginning had Yachuon, who I liked and I could kind of understand, then there was Akagane who was cool and identifiable, but in this arc, we've got a klepto kid who can't talk and a flea who's pretending to be an oni. And there's you, of course, but something seems... missing. You know?

And there's you, of course, but something seems... missing. You know? I do hear you there. I've been having a lot of trouble with this arc because I know where it's eventually headed, but I can't just plunge headlong into it and need to work my way there, but have been at a loss as to how to work my way there in an interesting manner. So I apologize if the last few chapters have been kinda "eh". I promise, it's building towards a point. This arc is sort of "transitional", as it's the first one where I am playing a more dominant rather than subservient role. So the difference I think is that instead of having cool, capable partners who are there to guide me in what to do, I'm the one "in charge" this time, but am not really prepared for the role. So there ends up being a lot of just mucking about as I try to figure out my new place in the hierarchy of things.

I didn't have a problem with the chapter... but I also lean towards longer stories where things take time to build, so it didn't bother me that this chapter felt more like scene-setting than anything else. I'm a firm believer in the need to set the scene.

Whooooooa! Did I say ominous, or did I say OMINOUS? Hmmmm. But you can't go around wearing that mask all the time. Of course, as your own youki develops over time, you may become immune to the miasma. So you can fly! But do you need pixie dust? Heehee! But! What WILL you find at the top of the mountain? ?

Ohhhh, GOODY! Another MYSTERY! And perhaps a way up the mountain?? Although that means you don't get to learn how to fly (yet).
Kids. Don't you just love their brattyness?? (That's why I never had any.) ;D

Been a while since a chapter needed a "translation note". But here's just a bit of information that will make chapter 50 make more sense:
The Japanese word for "horse" is "uma", and is written like this: ”n. The Japanese word for "deer" is "shika" and is written like this: Ž. However, if you put both characters together, you end up with ”nŽ, which is pronounced "baka". This isn't just a play on sounds, the "horse-deer" combination is actually the "official" way to write "baka" in kanji.
