O.O Oh my God... WOW!!! How could, just wow! The piece of the soul was in Inu-papa all that time! Geez. I didn't realize it, but now that I see it... it makes perfect sense! This is so exciting. You pulled it off. ^_^ You should get a medal or something, because you did it just right. The hints were dropped, obvious enough that I don't get a "Wait, wtf?" reaction, and not so obvious that I knew before it happened. Thank you, you just made my day. And so... Akagane's journey was over... or was it? It's over for now. There's still a few more chapters to go to tie up some other loose ends with him and get him settled, but then, yeah, his role is finished. ... At least for now. ^_^* I fully intend to pull him back into the story periodically as it goes on, though, but his role as an "ongoing" presence is almost over. He's been in the story for 25 chapters already (well... I guess 23, actually, since he wasn't physically present in chapters 29 and 30), so I think he deserves a break for a while. And I'm glad the "big revelation" in this chapter made sense. I've been planning for it for the past 15-20 chapters and dropped a lot of subtle hints and intentionally ironic comments the entire time. Hopefully it'll make this arc enjoyable to re-read and be able to notice all of them now that you know what's going on. Also, once this arc concludes (at around chapter 44 or so), I plan on taking a break from the story for a while to do some more planning for the next arc, which will get back to the "mother hunt", but so far I only have a very, very vague and general idea of what I'm going to be doing with it and want the timeline a bit more solidified before I jump into it.

Aww.. no more Akagane.. Although, I was busy mourning the death of Kakyou. Can it be fixed? Please say it can be fixed. I loved those bells, and now one of them is broken. Taking a break is fine. As long as its not a permanent break, in which case I may just have to get out my hammer. I'm actually pretty glad you want to take a break to plan instead of jumping in without knowing where you are going and then finding yourself stuck. ^_^

Aww.. no more Akagane.. No, he won't be gone for good. Like I said, the end of this arc will simply be the end of his "continuous" presence in the story. He'll be relegated to a Sesshoumaru/Kouga/Kikyou-type character who just shows up once in a while when the plot calls on him instead of being a permanant party member. I haven't really thought that far out yet. I never intended for them to become a major fixture in the series, though I do still have other uses for them. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to work out part of where I'm going before the next chapter or so since it's where some important information will be brought up that will eventually turn the plot towards the next arc. I just... need to figure out what precisely that information is. ^_^*

Yay. I am content with all of the above. Edit: Just read chapter 41. ;D That was great! It did feel a bit too easy/convenient, the whole Akagane just letting it go thing, but since you remarked on that anyway it's not an issue. Also, I wasn't expecting a chapter near this soon, so that's an unexpected surpise for me. ^_^ Thank you; you have made my day. The chapter illustration was so cute. I had no idea that Kogane was that little. Awww... I'm so happy that Akagane and Kogane get a happy ending. Really heart warming. Now, back to Inupapa and his epic search for his mother. ^_^ I loved the "Talking to my grandfather," comment. Really kinda brought home the whole conversation for me. It had been kind of detached like, oh, he's talking to this guy who's his mother's parent about what happened to his mother, but well... it may just be that I'm slow, but I didn't realize it was really his grandfather until after he said it. I had a great "whoa!" moment, then went back and read the conversation again. Fun. Edit again: I also forsee Kakyou getting fixed. Yay! And just because I feel it needs saying again: You still, hands down, have the best "Inuyasha" fanfic out there. No one even comes close. I would say best fanfic, but I haven't read all of the fandoms, so I can't really say that, so I'll go with "one of the best".

Maybe no one liked how this storyarc ended up resolving. =/ Though it might have to do with the fact that I talk with a number of them on a regular basis so they have no other comments to make in here. ^_^*

Sorry. I couldn't resist. And hey, the story arch isn't technically over, right? I mean...you can't just forget about Hisui can you?...;.; She's so perky! I'd consider the story arch over when Akagane's role in the story is more or less over with; seeing as how you've said that after this is all said and done with, his role in the plot will decrease.

Well, no, it's got about two more chapters to go, but the "climax" has been surmounted at this point and it's just falling into a resolution from here. Then I'll be taking a break, at an opportune time no less since I'm being sent on a business trip the week of July 5th and may not have access to internet outside of sporadic coffee shop visits. But I'm going to need quite a while to think about and plan out the next arc since all I really know so far is how it concludes, but don't have much in the way of details concerning how I get there or who I'm going to need to bring in along the way to help me get there (because as awesome as I am, even I get dull if I don't have other characters around to interact with).

I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! HAHAHAHA! ;D
But what I don't understand, is, why Yachouon, who I assume is the "one eyed youkai," would take the soul of a normal, healthy young girl. Especially since it seemed he didn't like taking souls.
And it looks like your gonna have to visit those pesky monks, again! And who is Ryuukessei? Do you mean Ryuukotsusei? (I think that's how his name is spelled.) Was he around that long ago? Maybe you should go and talk with Bokusenou. And when do you meet Toutou-sai? And when does Myouga show up? You gonna leave us ? And, and........ Sorry, more questions.
[Runs away gibbering].

But what I don't understand, is, why Yachouon, who I assume is the "one eyed youkai," would take the soul of a normal, healthy young girl. Especially since it seemed he didn't like taking souls. I may expand on this more explicitly later, since the reasoning behind this so far has been scattered about a bit. Basically, he needs to send souls on a regular basis in order to survive. Normally he'd use the souls of the dead since they give him more energy, but without both bells, he can't "lock on" to a wayward soul. So the only ones he can catch with the single bell are the ones that are already bound for him, i.e. the ones still attached to a living body. He didn't have anything personally against Kogane, she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was needing a little pick-me-up. Ryuukessei is a precursor to Ryuukossei. It's not a misspelling, they really are two different people (dragons?), it's just that the naming scheme I used here ended up with an extremely similar pronounciation. Ryuukossei = "dragon-bone-born", while Ryuukessei = "dragon-blood-born". And Myouga will actually show up... kind of soon. I need to work out the next arc a bit more to know exactly how soon, but it will have to be before the conclusion of the next arc since he'll play a role in it.

Edit: Just read chapter 41. ;D That was great! It did feel a bit too easy/convenient, the whole Akagane just letting it go thing, but since you remarked on that anyway it's not an issue. It was mostly due to the fact that he didn't want to hate me and was rather hoping something would come up that would give him an excuse to let it go. There's a term for it that I can't think of off the top of my head, where you immediately latch onto even a single piece of evidence that supports what you want to believe, like "Aha, this one piece supports me, it must be right and the rest is wrong", and just push all the contradictory pieces out of your mind ("confirmation bias", maybe?). She's not quite THAT little, she just turned out kind of small in that image. I can chalk it up to the fact that being dead for six years has stunted her growth (though it's been 16 years since she was born, she's still, for all intents and purposes, 10 years old). Aw, you don't have to go that far. ^_^* I'm glad people like it, but I wouldn't call it the "best" anything.

On the contrary, I agree that it is one of the best fanfics I have read. Say, make it the best Inu-Papa fanfic I have read. Please, just don't leave us in suspense for too long! Or I'll go into delirium tremens...... My brain is slowly turning to mush without all that interesting info you pitch our way. Heehee!

It's really hot today, which got me thinking... Akagane's outfit is completely impractical. He'd actually probably be better off hunting in the cooler months and laying low in the hotter months if he insists on wearing it. Because the uniform is described as both insulated and waterproof, that pretty much means... he's unable to sweat, because waterproof clothing would leave it with nowhere to go. It's not the act of sweating that cools your body, but the process of the water evaporating off your skin. And because it's insulated, his body heat in general isn't going to be able to radiate away. Add in the fact that the uniform is BLACK, and therefore absorbs all light and heat that hits it, the guy would probably keel over from heatstroke as soon as it hit 60 degrees.
