Biiiiishi Boys!!! ;D I love that it doesn't seem to faze the head Monk at all. I think it's cute you decided to keep your tail! Well, it now brings up the question, why is that part of the forest tainted in the first place? Can it ever be totally purified? The monks seem to be just holding the line, not getting anywhere. And why IS your mother's scent still around? I don't remember, did the monks recognize the Shikon no Tama, or just purified it because it was tainted? Sorry, I don't have more questions; I'll think of some more later. Hahahahaha .......

I've finally caught up on the memoirs (you have to excuse me, I don't generally read biographies, especially autobiographies).
I have to say, now I've read them, I don't think you were particularly out of character to have asked about the selfless wish - you've already displayed so much determination to look through a glass that's half-full, no matter how half-empty everyone else around you views a situation, that it makes sense you might wonder if there's any positive use that can be gained from the jewel since it's half made from a good soul, not just a bad. After all, look at the reactions of readers to your youngest son's story - even adults debated if the jewel could be used for selfless wishes, and what kind of wish could be defined as selfless. If adults would speculate, why wouldn't an eight year old boy who does possess a natural optimistic streak?
However, the fact that reason prevailed, and the moment of optimistic speculation was quickly drowned out by rationality and common sense is a very good thing, and it's the reason why the brief moment of dangerous speculation works.
So, no, I don't think the speculating was a bad thing for character portrayal - but following through with that thought into action would have been harder to swallow.

So, no, I don't think the speculating was a bad thing for character portrayal - but following through with that thought into action would have been harder to swallow. That was pretty much what I was thinking. I needed to get Kogane possessed by the jewel, and for a while, using the jewel on her was the only way I could think of to do it. And while I could reasonably prod the characters enough to at least think about the possibility, there was no way in hell I could get them to actually go through with using her as a guinea pig, even with as much as I'd beaten Akagane down emotionally beforehand. Thankfully I figured out a different option at the last minute and kind of shoehorned it into what I'd already written.

Hooooeeeee!!!! UGLY looking ***ker!!!! Well our boys are are marching into battle together. Here's hoping they come out the other side in relatively good condition! Will we be finding out more about the Koma Inu? Huh, Huh? I know they must be connected somehow! Could the spirit of the first one really be considered evil? I would think it would be more of an angry spirit, being as it's offspring had been stolen, so it was more easily influenced by the jewel. But, it wasn't acting evil for evil's sake. Hmmmm. More questions.

This chapter actually went up without a proofreader since we couldn't coordinate schedules this week, so I have this great fear that there's something glaringly wrong with it that I haven't been able to notice myself. ^_^*

I don't see anything glaringly wrong. Also, yay! Akagane admits he cares!

Looks fine to me! Though...my English skills run more along the line of content and a little bit of grammar rather than spelling and stuff :3! So! So far as content! Its fine! I'm also enjoying the little bits of squishieness in the most recent chapters. Its a nice reprieve from all the emotional scarring that's been going on in the previous chapters x.x.

Sorry that updates have been a bit later and more sparse than usual. I've had a busy couple of weeks at work since people are going on vacation and I've had to work double-time to pick up the slack. I hope it hasn't affected my writing ability since I have been kind of cramming to keep getting chapters done on a weekly-ish basis.

Hey, no problemo! I'd bet my paycheck that most of us working stiffs have been through similar situations. Bleh! More questions! If your mother is not a youkai, then who is it who has the same scent as her? (Did I say that right?) And who is it you've been chasing around the countryside?? And who (and what) is your father??? And where is this all going?"The World......... may never know." ;D

Ok, so I went back to my lurking tendencies. xD Don't worry about the updates, believe me I know how that happens sometimes. Just don't give up on the story and I won't have to get out my pitchfork. I am very happy with the latest chapter (38), though there is one thing that bugs me, but it doesn't apply specifically to your story since it is found in mangas and anime everywhere. There is way too much talking for the middle of a fight scene. It always tests my suspension of disbelief when two characters are able to carry on a conversation with a big nasty enemy creature that is trying to kill them just.. standing there. And that sentance was way too long. To circumvent this, I would have the characters trying something while they are talking, random stabs at the creature and whatnot, and while that may actually be happening, there isn't enough of a mention to support this. Of course, you are the author and can write the story whichever way you please. ^_^

Sorry for the double post, but I just read the latest chapter (39) and.. WOW! Magnificent! Perfecto! I am loving this chapter, and am so sad that it's over. And yet... I am a very happy person right now. ^_^

"I KNEW IT!!!!!!" But is Kogane alive, dead, or still possessed? Is the Koma-Inu alive, dead, or still possessed? What is going to happen NEXT? ;D

O.O Oh my God... WOW!!! How could, just wow! The piece of the soul was in Inu-papa all that time! Geez. I didn't realize it, but now that I see it... it makes perfect sense! This is so exciting. You pulled it off. ^_^ You should get a medal or something, because you did it just right. The hints were dropped, obvious enough that I don't get a "Wait, wtf?" reaction, and not so obvious that I knew before it happened. Thank you, you just made my day. And so... Akagane's journey was over... or was it?
