She says "Watashi to Midoriko wa onaji tamashii o motsu monodoushi."
Which I translated to "Midoriko and I carry the same soul as each other."
Onaji can mean anything along the lines of "same, similar, alike," etc. It's always been said that Midoriko and Kikyou are similar to each other, but it could mean any number of things that are not really translation issues, it's more like, they're things that haven't been explained fully.

Thanks Kuro! ^_^
Well, it could perfectly be Similar... itd make no sense thinking that they had THE SAME soul..

Yes, thanks, Kuro. So it seems "similar" might have been the better word to choose. And you are right Chafa-kun, were Takahashi to mean "same" then she would have a lot of explaining to do. But hey, I just have faith that she would have the ability to explain such a seeming contradiction. Well, anyway, I think we can all agree that this last chapter brought more questions then answers P

Well, "onaji" DOES mean "the same." Actually, both words implied the same thing to me. I took it to mean that they were alike in that they were just kindrid spirits rather than reincarnations but we just don't know. Like I said, it's not really a translation issue. I think no matter which word I chose to use, it would have raised the same questions since we just don't know where Takahashi is headed with this. Don't think about it so much and just wait for the rest of it to unfold.

Rumiko-sama must take pleasure in confusing her readers. She must read the japanese message boards who talk about the same things we do and having a good laugh.

I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time), but I heard somewhere that Takahashi doesn't even own a computer (please correct me if this info is wrong). But I would like to think that she would get a kick out of all the Inu stuff out there on the internet

So true, so true...there's some pretty twisted and strange Inu stuff out there (just look at some of the Dear Papa letters!). O.k. so Takahashi needs an edited internet tour...hmmm...I think she would like what Kuro and Patches have done on there sites, we could start there And just to stay on the topic of this thread, again, I really hope Kouga's shikon "beeper(s)" goes off and he comes back in the manga! I'm really starting to miss him.

alright, last chapter left me thinking... did Midoriko's soul leave the shikon no tama or something? And about Kikyo... well, it seems I wasn't wrong at all

Well, you know Inuyasha isn't going to be just twiddeling his thumbs as Kikyou kills Naraku. I think Naraku still has a suprise or two instore for that pompous miko.
