...when you actually questioned the fate of a character?
I guess, other than Kagura's fate right now?
Have you ever thought that a character was really, truly going to die?
*CHAPTER 354 SPOILERS*
I have to admit that this last chapter kinda had me giggling. Naraku cuts and runs again, as usual, leaving the gang inside the ogre. Naraku ain't too bright in that sense, but I guess that's also a cardinal rule of Bad Guy-dom.
You CAN always leave the good guys to die in your caustic trap. Because this time they're going to die! AhahahahaH!
....not.
And then I saw a few topics popping up around the internet, "What's going to happen to Miroku?!" XD Of course, I'm sure we're all thinking, of course he'll live through this. It's always just a matter of HOW they're going to get out of the binds they get in that makes the continual confrontations so fun, eh?
YEP!
But was there ever a time when you actually DID think someone was going to die?
I have to admit, for a little while, I thought Kikyou was really not coming back, after volume 29. Something didn't feel complete about her death, but for a little while, I did kind of think she was really gone. That was probably the only time that happened, and even that feeling didnt' last long. Heh-heh-heh.

Yes, I have to admit that I Was wishing really really hard that Kikyou Was dead but I kept getting this feeling she wasn't. The whole no body thing. AS to Our wandering Monk, I hope not. That is about all I can say maybe it is because I am basically a pessimist but I really Only see Kagome getting thru this thing. And even with that I think there is going to be some serious issues. Not really that this answers your question really but it is my take On it.

Heh, I never thought Kikyou was dead. If you don't have a body, they're not dead. And, like in Goryoumaru's case, even if you DO have a body, sometimes they're not dead.
I can't say I've ever "worried" over a character dying. A lot of these one-shot characters who have been popping up I've just taken as a given that they're not going to be around for long, whether because of death or because they just wander off.
So... the closest I've ever come was probably Jakotsu. He held out pretty long, but given the fates of all his other team members, it was obvious that he was going to suffer the same fate sooner or later. It was just a question of how and when.
So, as for Miroku, no, he's not going to die. And if he does, then Kagura will die here, too, and Fluffy'll just show up and do one big round of, "IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIIVE!" and everyone will be happy. ^_^

Kikyou's pseudo death nearly had me as well -- although it certainly seemed that she had been killed by Naraku, there were just too many loose ends hanging around for there to be conclusion. Then again, that may be what actually happens, if Takahashi decides to end it that way, or (ahh! The evil "or"!) . . . if Takahashi decides whether or not Kikyou does not die at all. Considering the [old bones + earth + dirt + mud = clay + soul = Kikyou] state she's been roaming around, that'd be rather weird . . . Ahh, wait! Come to think of it, Kikyou's first death had been rather convincing at the beginning of the manga. Of course, she was brought back, which [back then] was a surprising twist of events. But from there, Kikyou "reviving" or returning has been nothing special, but rather similar to never-ending oncoming sequels -- Land Before Time XVII + 3.14159 x infinity, for example. We need something new: maybe Naraku will come back with an extra arm sprouting from his head? Or Hakudoushi will suddenly produce a blender? Regardless, I'm still a little anxious to see next week's chapter -- what's to become of our heroes? Okay okay, they're undoubtedly going to survive, but the business with Inuyasha and the Shikon shard is rather interesting . . . although Kagome seemed to think so, I really don't think that Inuyasha will use it *that* way. But then again, I may be wrong. However, since Inuyasha, of all the demons in the series (aside from Sesshoumaru), has completely refrained from ever using the Shikon shards to increase his power, it would kinda be disappointing for him to start doing it now. Hm, come to think of it, perhaps him utilizing it solely to save his friends will be the difference between every other demon with a shard in the series . . . I keep asking so many questions, but until next week comes along, we won't have an answer. ^^ Wait a minute, that reminds me . . . --where's Sesshoumaru in all of this? Is he going to show up to save the day, or will he arrive late for the party and be left the clean up (as per usual)?

I've only been following this series for about a year and some, and I'm a spoiler whore, so no, up til now I haven't been too terribly afraid for anyone.
But let me say, despite everything I've said in that other thread (which I still whole-heartedly believe =D) that I am *terrified* for Kagura, and a bit scared for the Inu-tachi as well.
*eep* =/
And I'm confused about this shikon business... I know Kouga started out as (human-eating) villian, but he's been recast as a friendly rival. He seems to use his shards without being absorbed by evil, so why are they so verboten for Inuyasha?
It is ominous, though, isn't it?
*trembles until next week*

Hmm... I just remembered about Myouroumaru (sp??) with the whole "I'll give you a soul" thing with Kanna. And we haven't heard from him ever since. Maybe... he gets to keep Kagura's soul/heart/whatever she has and that's her final "task"....
I dunno, it's strange how he had this huge multi chapter fight and then he randomly disappears. Also... if she kills off Miroku (which I highly doubt, but still), I am soooo not reading Inuyasha anymore. >< ... no I'm just saying that, I can't do that. I'm too into the storyline. ~_~

Aww... don't worry too much, sango. I'd bet money that Miroku is just the ticking clock in this scene. If he was healthy, he could hold up his little spirit barrier and Inuyasha wouldn't feel pressured into use the shikon shard to get them out of there, like, immediately.

I've worried for a lot of characters--
Kagura: of course, since she's kind-of on the verge of getting killed off. I hope she doesn't die, but if her death was very well done and moved the plot along a lot, I would consider it fitting.
Kohaku: He's my bishounen! LOL I really hope he doesn't die in the end--now I think he may survive but for a really long time I took it for granted that he was going to die... then when he first got his memory back I thought he was going to die doing something heroic... now I think... I hope... he will survive.
Kanna: For some reason I don't want her to die. But I haven't really worried that much about her yet.
I read the whole Kikyou dying/not really dying thing on Chris Rijk's website last year at the beginning of my Inu-Yasha obsession, so I read it so fast that I didn't really have time to worry if she was actually dead or not--or maybe my friend spoiled it for me.
