It was very intersting watching this on Adult Swim tonight. It was the first time I got see a dubed version AFTER seeing the subed. The first change that bothered me was the title, "Plot of the Panther Devas" WTF!? Don't they realise that one of them is a guy!? And they called them the Panther Clan instead of the Firecat Clan. I don't understand this change at all. The voices were a mixed bag for me. I much prefered the original voice for Karan. The Dubbed version was older and too mature for my taste. But the leader chic with the blue/green hair, I prered the dubbed voice for the exact same reason I disliked Karan's dub--more mature and I thought fitting. But to me, the highlight of the night and the best change of all was with Seshoumaru. It was the scene with Royocon (sp?) where he asked to join Sesshoumaru in fighting the Fire Cats, in the fan sub I have, Fluffy says to him , "Leave before you get killed." That was good, but in the dub he says, "Leave or I will lop off your head." Now THAT is the Sesshoumaru I like! And the delivery of the line was in no small part what made it so cool. David Kaye rocks as Sesshoumaru as far as I'm concerned. I guess maybe I'm rambling, sorry. I just really liked this dubed version a lot and had to tell some one. ;D

Well, you must remember that fansubs are not always accurate. I re-watched my fansub of episode 75 last week and found dozens of mistakes just at a casual listen-through.
For one thing, "Panther Devas" IS a correct translation of "Hyouneko Shitennou". I have no idea where the fansubs came up with "fire cat clan", since "Hyouneko" means "panther-cat".
Let's see... that line you liked was originally "kirarenu uchi ni sare", which is like, "Go home or I'll kill you." ^_^*

Thanks, Patches, for the clarification. I'm not too suprised to learn there are mistakes in a fan sub, but to be so off like Fire Cat versus panther-cat is indeed. Me still prefers the dubbed version of that line better It's more graffic and threatening I think. P

Actually, I spelled it wrong. It's Diva. In a very general way it means a good looking woman that is high maintence. It used to mean a distinquished female opera star. Syn: prima donna.

Ah, I see.
I was thinking a deva (which I was reading as "day-va") was some buddhist or hindu thing I'd never heard of...

Ah, I see. I was thinking a deva (which I was reading as "day-va") was some buddhist or hindu thing I'd never heard of... Um... it is. "Shitennou" = "four heavenly rulers", and is a term that is typically used to refer to the Hindu Devas. What the hell this has to do with the cats (other than they're elemental in nature) is beyond me.
