I don't know about the american ones, but in the spanish dub, they did something really... atrocious, to say the least, to the songs. I don't know the reasons, but they kept just Change the World and My Will intact. Dubbed, of course, but with a fairly well dub. From episode 21, with Fukai Mori, and on, the nightmare started and keeps going... They dubbed the songs, awful lyric translations and lousy chrouses, but that's the least of it... They managed to SEVERE THE SONGS. They rewrote the scores and played it with awful keyboards (I'm a keyboard player, I've had a lot of music studies and I recognise that you can't replace a whole band with just a keyboard...), changing all the sounds and had the voices sing their awful translations with their awful choruses on top of those horrendous keyboard-made bases. Did the same happen to any other dub? If so, why did they do that!!! >__<

Well they do this because the rights to the songs are expensive. They only bought the first opening and first ending and then did their own renditions of the other songs to cut costs. Most other anime dubs just stick to the same initial song thoughtout all the openings and endings. But yeah, these renditions do sound pretty awful.

Damn, dude, that sucks! I feel for you there.
As to your question, all I know is that so far they are left as is in the English dubs. However they don't show the openings. I miss those.

I don't know if I could tolerate Change the World and My Will all the way for 167 episodes, but I did tolerate Catch You Catch Me for the whole Sakura show xDDDD and also Get Along (horrendous dub too...) for 78 episodes... though I did like those songs... Change the World is like "ugh" to me now...
Man I just listened to Grip! yesterday and ugh it was horrible!!! I don't even want to think what they'll do to One Day One Dream...

It's just sad, and I feel your pain. I also play piano ;D.

Some spanish dubs have kept the songs as is, even without translating (Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Jigoku Sensei Nube, Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002 are a couple that come to mind). And these have no problem showing all openings and endings. I guess that's cheaper and frankly I'd prefer if they did that with all the dubs. For some reason Ranma had it's original openings and endings in its first run in Mexico, but then in reruns they were replaced by a dub of Don't make me a Shrew and even changed the opening animation with clips of the show, I'm not sure why they did that.

HORRID dubs though... and it got the "Only one song for the whole show" treatment. 2.- Jajauma wa Sasenaide is HORRENDOUS, I have no idea why the kept it, and besides: the first time I saw the Ranma 1/2 TV show (I saw the OVAs and read the manga first), it was with that hedious song dub... down here in Chile we never got the chance to watching the original ops/eds ._. - Whatever, they had to keep Don't Mind Lay-Lay Boy for the ed, right? Couldn't keep Equal Romance!!! Man I hate Audiomaster 3000... (responsible for the Shaman King, Ranma 1/2, G.S. Mikami and some other anime spanish dubs)
