Filler people mess up a lot. Like for one thing, in the special "The Woman who loved Sesshoumaru- Part 2", Sess is a full-youkai who doesn't like ningen all that much. He CAN'T use Tetsusaiga, even is he asks nicely ^^;; But they had him use the Kaze no Kize. >< Sure, It looked kool, but it doesn't make sense if you think about it.
Also, in the second movie, Inu and Kag have their first kiss. Sounds good, but is it fair? Maybe Takahashi, who's spent years of hard work on this anime/manga, wanted to illustrate their FIRST kiss? I dunno, I only like fillers is they don't affect the actual series much. Mushy moments and humor are good but nothing drastic.[/glow]

I think either the writers missed Miroku's subtle change or sacrificed character development for the sake of a good joke. I was disappointed too.
I was thinking the same thing. What say did Ms. Takahashi have in regards to the second movie? It was great to see Kagome and Inuyasha kiss - its been the want of many, many fans - but that scene managed to refute every conflict and obligation Inuyasha has with poor Kikyou.
Also, the anime's portrayal of Kikyou is entirely unfair compared to the manga. In the manga, her situation is understandable and she's hardly the cold-hearted witch* the anime makes her out to be. *sigh*, but then again, the people that make the anime are also fans of the series, so why not bend it into their own interpretation?
*EDIT: Whoa! I had used a different noun to describe the anime-version of Kikyou (witch - w + b = insert word here), but some censor filters I had not been unaware of changed it to "pregnant dog". Good thing I read it over after initially posting, that would have been odd!! ^^;;

Hm, I think I'll go turn the censors off, then. I discourage the use of profanity, but I'm not going to all-out ban it, unless someone complains.

Heh-heh... it's only Willow Johnson's performance that gives me that "Grrr... I wanna do something unspeakable to Kikyou!" feeling. I feel a whole lot different hearing how Noriko Hidaka voices her. In fact, I think Noriko is awesome; she kinda makes Kikyou feel angsty without seeming, er, overly bitchy, in so many words. o.O *ANGST!* I haven't read too many of the English manga, so I wonder if they've done the same to her. Generally I thought they did pretty good with the manga translation. I mean, it's not as literally translated as I would have done it, but I thought they tailored it to a Western audience enough while still trying diligently to stay as close to the Japanese manga as possible. But that's kinda just me. I'm not that hard to please.

But that's kinda just me. I'm not that hard to please. :P The Viz translation of the manga is like a Gobstopper: it keeps changing flavors every few minutes, and generally sucks. Viz's translation, while accurate, is horribly inconsistant. It's like they have five different translators who never compare notes. They called Tessaiga "Wolf's Fang" for a while, before deciding to refer to it by name (as "Tetsusaiga"). They also have all the images flipped, and can't decide whether to change the dialogue to match or not. In volume 2, the pearl was switched to Inuyasha's "left" eye to match the flipped picture. But Miroku's Kazaana (which has YET to be given an actual NAME in Viz's version) is still in his right hand, and Sesshoumaru is still missing his left arm, according to the dialogue. They'll even randomly stick in the original honorifics, but only if they feel like it. They never DID decide what Nobunaga's monkey's name was (he was called something different every time he was referenced -_-*). They also seem to think "Sankon Tessou" and "Hijin Kessou" are interchangeable, so Inuyasha'll claw at an enemy while yelling "Claws of Blood!" or something. So... yeah, that's my take on the Viz manga. I still get it for the pictures, but it seems like with all the inconsistancies, you wouldn't be able to understand it without already knowing what's going on.

Gah, bleh! Really? Let's see... I've only read through 1, 2, and 5. Which seemed okay. Oh yeah, and I just filpped through 16 recently because that was one of my favorite volumes and I wanted to see how they translated it. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how close they tried to keep the Goshinki encounter dialogue to the, even if they did change some of it...
For instance:
(ENGLISH) INUYASHA: The youkai blood in my body is purer than yours ever is! <-- the key word being "purer"
Whereas:
(JAPANESE) INUYASHA: Because he youkai blood in my body is completely different from yours in every way!! <-- the key words being "different in every possible way" (nanzo to, kaku ga chigau n-da!
Well, now hearing that there's inconsistencies like THAT in the manga... yikes! I noticed the change about the left/right eye, but haven't seen the GNs referring to Miroku's kazaana. Yuck, that would bug me, too!!

Wait there gonna break up?? ... ... ... ...Oh, you said maybe...
Dont scare me like that!!
I dont think they will, Houshi is just being Houshi! Sango should know that. Besides he needs an heir in case he dies before killing Naraku and Sango already said no...who else can he get to do it?
Think about it, hes somewhat justified in his Lechorous ways...

Well, just checked out chapter 345.
Heh heh...
The story arc concluded, but there wasn't a whole lot of resolution in it. Everyone basically ends up back the way they were before the whole fiancee mess occurred, but...
"Ima nan tsutta kora Ore no onna tsukamaete..."
"Ore no onna", huh? Miroku doesn't usually use "ore", does he?

"My woman"? Becoming a little more possessive than just the occassional (or not so occassional ) grope on the back end, aren't we, houshi-sama? Now all we need is for Sango to call Miroku by his actual name... ...I wonder if Ms. Takahashi will continue directly from this chapter or start a new arc. Was there any final resolution between Miroku and Sango (aside from beating the living daylights out of the lake youkai?)?

Nah, it was their usual resolution. Patches, you know, I almost missed that "ore" the first time when I read it. And I liked Sango's reaction to it. Kinda like a, "whoa... so I... uh... well... we... he said... I ..." (Maybe I can stick all that into her "!" word bubble.. So it was MIROKU'S chance to prove himself and everything. Hehe, and Shima admits that it was a lie she told about Miroku. YAY MIROKU! And I like their little exchange at the end. Heehee. So she didn't call him Miroku. I was REALLY hoping for that. But still... it was sweet. ^_^ I think I need to go hug a plushie now. ^_^

I noticed that lately, it seems like Takahashi has been modifying Miroku's personality a lot, along with the entire Miroku/Sango relationship ^^;; It's for the best, but I've noticed that Miroku and Sango have been acting differently in the past few manga volumes. Or... I could be wrong ^^;;; LoL

Nah, it's not just you. I think EVERYONE'S grown up a little bit in later chapters. Actually... I think the only character who hasn't really changed much is Sango. Miroku has definitely changed.
In fact, I think the series as a whole kind of took a little step towards a darker, more action-based edge during and after the Shichinintai and Hakureizan arcs. The story in the first half seemed very focused on Inuyasha's growth in power. Now it's less focused on that.

But, Takahashi has had NO Inu/Kag romance for a LONG time already >< Inu/Kag are the main couple, but she's been instead ^^;; Not that I mind or anything (being a die-hard Miroku/Sango fan ^^), I just find it strange. She must be planning something BIG... with the whole filler "Shima" thing and Jaken having that crystal... something important is guna happen very soon. It almost seems like she's stalling, and dragging everything out for a while, ever since Hakudoshi showed up. I mean, the series has to end someday, right? ^^;;
