Gah, and now the official site was updated again, too, with "Keywords" and some information on the new characters. I have to go to work in 15 minutes, so I don't have time to get all of it now, so I'll just grab the most interesting bit of the new info: the lyrics to "Tamaokuri no Uta", the insert song:
Chichi wa iwareta ayakashi no te wa mamori no te Haha wa iwareta hito no te aru wa hagukumi no tame Ryou no te awase tobira o aki guren no naka ni nare o kaesu Na ga kora o hikari to narite mamoritamae
Father told me a demon's hand was a guardian Mother told me a human's hand was there to raise me With both hands together, I open the door and return you to the crimson And you become the light which protects your children

And I thought that I was Sess-obSESSed. Thank you, Patches!!! (Very amused that the reviewer is also a Rin/Sess fan, and sharing her disappointment that there isn't much Rin in the film ).

The scene I wanted to see the most, of the mark appearing on Big Brother's back, was there, but it just appeared on top of his normal clothing (^_^), even though I wanted to see Rin-chan see it appear on his bare back! (;_;) Ok, I can understand the reviewer is a Sesshoumaru/Rin fan, but come on, thats just really disturbing O_o

Ok, I can understand the reviewer is a Sesshoumaru/Rin fan, but come on, thats just really disturbing Yeah, I agree that it would be inappropriate to have child-Rin oogling shirtless Sesshoumaru. I'm not into pedophilia. But it would have been nice for the audience to oogle shirtless Sesshoumaru. At least we have "Big Brother's pretty hair" to look forward to. I keep hoping that they'll be some teeny tiny Rin/Sess implied-future moment that the reviewer may have missed. I'm still getting a kick out of the fact that the first English summary of this movie to appear (thanks again to Patches!) answers all the Rin/Sess and shirtless/Sess questions I had. ^_^

Ah, man, I really should be doing other things, but... Found another review from one of the people who went with the previous person. So, naturally, she's a Sess/Rin fan as well. ^_^* Got this from Negitoro Uchuukyoku moderated by Tachikawa-san. Inuyasha Movie "Guren no Hourai-jima" Advance Screening Review *naturally there are spoilers (2004/12/13)
Waaaah! I went to see it! The "Guren no Hourai-jima" Thanksgiving Advance Screening! The others who went were Chimaru(?)-san of "Bake-inu Teikokujugi", Aoma(?)-san of "Mahou no Hiroba Tsuushin", and Marin-san of "Umi no Tsuki". It was... so great...! The weather was questionable, but we'd gotten in line about an hour beforehand. There were a lot of small children, plus their apparent guardians who I think were like their grandfathers or grandmothers. So, we sort of stood out. As for the advance screening, we were all wondering if there would be any special guests~ and we had that itty-bitty bit of hope, but since this was a gathering of fans in Tokyo, no one came. Before the movie, a Shogakukan (Inuyasha) commercial played, and then the main movie started.
Oh! This might be important, but the movie's running time is an hour and 30 minutes. This time around, the thing to look for is all the action scenes! It has the most intensity of any of the movies or the TV series up until now, and the pictures were so pretty. Sunrise really is great at battle scenes~ and, I might add, quality as well. I mean, if every anime had stuff like this, it would be too much to handle. Revolving around the action scenes, the flow, the movement, the effect were all superb. As always with Sunrise, the villains are huge and use magic-like stuff, and I don't really understand how people could consider that a weakness, since I personally love it and was really excited. Aside from the action scenes, I think that this movie is the best one so far. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru look so much better, image-wise, and when we got there, we just let out a sigh of "So cool~". Sesshoumaru's face was well-shaped, his eyes were long and piercing, and his hair was so silky. He was totally perfect. If the battles in this movie were of the intensity of "Tenka Hadou no Ken", I think I might do something I'm not aware of. It's kind of annoying. Especially at the end in the staff roll, when the image of Sesshoumaru showed up I really wanted to squeal. Even saying that, when we were done watching, the four of us were squealing. I personally thing it was the greatest ani-maru yet. Huh, I wonder if the cards say anything about that... The picture was the third one to come out, but it was actually the first made. When you stop at the first one, the first one shines the most.
I thought the original characters were pretty good. The hanyou kids were especially cute, kinda bratty, precious, and I liked them. The Shitoushin were fine no matter how you look at them.... Though Ryuura looked a lot like Bankotsu. Though the feeling seemed to be a bit more like Bankotsu + Sesshoumaru + Papa, so I was a little flutter-hearted. There's no substance to it, though. Man, actually, I don't know what to think of them.
There was an insert song in "Kagami no Naka no Mugenjou", and I thought that was a lii~ttle weird, but since this time the song was sung by one of the actual characters (seiyuu), it became firmly lodged in my head. The lyrics really remind me of Sess/Rin, and since I was all excited about that before the movie, naturally that was all I could cook up about it.
There were guest seiyuu, but while Jinnai-kun was fine (I recognized him even less than I did Kimutaku in Howl), DAI's Van-san was... yikes... one of the generic children in the previous movies would have been better. And since she had some extended lines, it really didn't sit well. The role was also unmemorable... The most-awaited event of this movie, Sesshoumaru's bare back, was not there... (-_-;) The future of Sess/Rin, also not there (;_; multiple times)
"Guren no Hourai-jima" total occurances: Sess/Rin 1% Jaken/Rin 20% Sesshoumaru 25~35% Sesshoumaru's prettiness 130% Sesshoumaru doing something 90% Sesshoumaru's importance 40% Inuyasha's importance 220% Shichinintai 70% Papa 2% Kikyou 18%
<personal proportions>And here's the translation of the little comic on the side: 1. Sesshoumaru onscreen 2. Scene change 3. Sesshoumaru onscreen 4. Scene change 5. Staff roll 6. "Eh? Everyone else, too...?"So... the general consensus of these two reviews is that there's no skin shots of Sess, which is sad, and that Van is a lousy actress. XD Oh, and "Kimutaku" is Takuya Kimura, who played Howl in "Howl's Moving Castle". Also, as a follow-up on the previous review where she commented the thing about Van being re-dubbed for the DVD, apparently Tackey's character is in fact getting re-dubbed by someone else for the DVD release of the spring special. ... Wait, didn't the blogger make some complaint about one of the guest seiyuu sucking, too? XD

Hopes that Patches is gladdened by the 2% Papa teaser (1% more than Sess/Rin! ) Heckyeah! ... Although, what's 1% more than "absolutely nothing", according to the other reviewer? Granted, if it was worth putting in the chart, that must mean he does SOMETHING. Besides run a theme park.

Oh, by the way, Nipponsei released a torrent of the Movie 4 ending single. The full version, not the cut version from the music video. The cut version is 3-something minutes, while the full version is 4:58. I'd post this on Q9D, but I'd feel like I was usurping Kuro-kuro... ^_^*

Wow, those Japanese Sesh fan girls REALLY are obsessed with that sexy boy! I was surprised to hear that, according to that first review, Kikyou doesn’t actually appear for that long. The previews kind of gave a different impression, but then, maybe they were just emphasising on her scenes. I was a little disappointed that neither of those reviews gave much insight into anything in the film OTHER than Sesh/Rin. I'm really hoping to see some new Inu/Kag scenes in this film, but, aren’t I always ^_^
P.S: I have now found my new addiction for the week. Rakuen will be playing repeat on my computer all day tomorrow now! I love it, althoug it reminds me of a song I've heard before. I just cant think what...

Despite the lack of Sess/Rin-age, I'm hoping that this movie does very well (better chance of second series of anime that way!). I know that it just opened, but Patches, have you been able to gauge what the general Japanese fandom's reaction has been? (And how does Inu-papa come in??)

I've seen a couple more reviews, but most of them are spoiler-free, so don't go into any detail, yet the universal comment, regardless of who the reviewer is fawning over, seems to be "The ending credits were cool". However, while browsing reviews, I found something kind of interesting. Last week-ish, a novelized version of the first few chapters of Inuyasha was released. Contained within was this passage: "After her father died in an accident a few years prior, Kagome, along with her mother and younger brother Souta, moved into his parents' house, which was the shrine. The priest, her grandfather, had been living there alone after her grandmother passed away." So... wow. We finally find out where the hell Kagome's dad is, and solidify that Jii-chan is her paternal grandfather. Though, I have no idea who actually wrote the novelized version, but... eh, it's close enough to canon.

I don't mean to ask a stupid question, but how did he die? All of these reviews have gotten my spirit up. Even though I have to see them five years later or so. Since I don't know Japanese, yet!

In the anime/manga, they never mention her dad at all (except that he proposed to her mom underneath the Goshinboku). I'm guessing that they probably don't really go into detail in the novelization of it either... (By the way, Patches, where did you manage to get your hands on the novelization? Kinokuniya Bookstore? I might be interested in getting one to practice my Japanese...^^) I was watching the clip on www.inu-yasha.org, and I noticed that the hanyou kids kept referring to Inuyasha as "Inuyasha-oniichan"! How cute!! ;D I can't wait to see Inuyasha's face when he hears that for the first time...!
