I'm wondering whether or not the anime writers had any sort of collaboration with Takahashi regarding the anime ending. Looking back at past episodes, I'd lean toward "probably not." -_- So if Kikyou killed Kanna and the Baby, which one of the Inuyasha-tachi or Sesshoumaru-tachi will kill who? Do you think Hakudoushi's death may end the same as the manga, minus the whole betrayal storyline? Though then the anime writers would have to conjure another reason why Naraku would want to dispose of him... tired of him taking over his role of Evil Bad Guy, perhaps? ^^ lol, and where is Kouga in all of this? He gets more lost than Ryouga... or maybe that's how it's supposed to be.

Hi Patches-
The IIFJ has up that the end of the anime is official according to a guest book on the YTV site.
Do you know anything about this?
Thanks.

Hi Patches- The IIFJ has up that the end of the anime is official according to a guest book on the YTV site. Do you know anything about this? Thanks. Yup, looks like we found that post at pretty much the same time. I already mentioned it over at Q9D, but here's what the post actually said: Regarding "Inuyasha"
I would like to thank everyone for all their posts in this section. Although I'm probably not the one who can give the best answer for this, I will make a reply. "Inuyasha" will be ending in September. We thank you all for watching up until now. We are currently planning for the final episode special. We are also planning for the Inuyasha movie's release this winter break during the end of December. The "Blackjack" anime will be starting in October. Though sparse, I wanted to quickly convey what information I had in regards to your many heartfelt comments, but please continue to look for updates in the future.
Yomiuri TV Moderator/age 44/male/2004.08.14 (Sat) 21:48Although it's likely legitimite, because it's not an actual press release, I won't quote it as a news source (I mean, he said right at the beginning, "I'm probably not the best person to answer this"). So, the actual announcement of the series ending still won't go on the main page until then. I just want to have "THE" announcement to point at, just so I can say, "Okay, look, press release. End of story."

Thanks Patches - I saw your translation at Q9D after I posted the above. Well, IIFJ has a nice poster of Blackjack on their site now...

Okay, so I lied. So many people were IMing me about the YTV thing, I ended up posting it on the main site, anyway, just to get them to shut up about it and affirm to them all that yes, I saw it. XD Sigh... I sometimes forget that the majority of my visitors don't read these boards, where I actually say, "yes, I saw it, and here's why I'm not saying anything about it". To those of you who inform me of news on the boards instead of spamming my IM... thank you. *hug*

I know the end of the anime is near (even though it's not officially official yet, sigh...) but I was really hoping to see intoxicated Inuyasha chasing butterflies animated

I know the end of the anime is near (even though it's not officially official yet, sigh...) but I was really hoping to see intoxicated Inuyasha chasing butterflies animated I forgot about that scene (a sin, I know)! Aww, man, that would have been so great to see... guess it'll just have to remain Takahashi manga-style for the rest of its days. Although, after reading Ranma 1/2 for so long, that's not too bad at all...

Sigh... I knew I shouldn't have posted that news bit before an official-official anouncement.
The Inuyasha TV anime is ending in September. Once they finish with the fourth movie, the staff will start working on the second series for it, either as an OAV or new TV series.

Spoiler... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... T_T Just found out that the series is really ending for sure, cuz the anime has caught up with the manga... and the last recording session was on August 19th. And the last episode is on September 13th... jeez this feels so incomplete. How can they give closure to all the characters and kill Naraku without it looking stupid and make a touching ending in just an hour when the series has been dragging out for so long? Ugh... And then in the manga, Kagura's dead and ... T_T And with the 4th movie coming out in December and stuff... ><

Um, they're NOT gonna kill Naraku at the end of the TV series. They're leaving it open-ended.
