Okay - as of today, IIFJ has confirmed that the anime series will end in September. She says that this is not a Sunrise announcement, but from one on the animators of the series...
It is pretty scary to see in print like that, even if it hasn't yet been offically confirmed.

Well, I've seen the little blurb that IIFJ is is referring to, and it basically just says "I just got the script for the second-to-last episode, we're pushing ahead with canon material, it seems like we're cramming too much into one episode sometimes." There's no mention of September in the post or the actual episode number that it refers to, so the end date likely comes from an estimate of how long it it would take to get this episode completed.
I mean, the post just proves it's ending. Well, all things must end, but it just solidifies that they have the end in their grasp now.

And now Viz is fanning the flames. Toshi "The series is ending at 150 and the manga is ending in November '03" Yoshida just announced at ComiCon that the series is ending at 167. Take that as you will.

Is it even possible for them to rap up the series that quickly?  I mean there's only one more episode to be announced and then it's the "last episodes" It's like gonna be something random and then it's just gonna lead to whatever they plan to have at the end. . . . . . Odd. . . Is it true for sure? Or is it still a rumor? I honestly have no idea who Yoshida is |

I don't know how things work in Japan, but my impression is that they give more media attention to things like this than we do in the US. If this rumour is true, shouldn't we be seeing some hardcore hype at this stage? I mean, it's not exactly a fair comparison, but think of when Friends finally ended... Feels like that was advertised for at least two years. =P
Anyway... I'm still skeptical about the truth of this End of Inuyasha thing.

I was kinda hoping that the series would pass the 200 episode mark, but that is still possible I suppose. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the manga stil going strong? Why stop a good thing short ?

Patches, any updates on if the series is ending at 167 or not? Nope. And if Sunrise doesn't say anything by their next site update on the 10th, I am REALLY going to start doubting this. The amusing thing is that this rumor has been "backed up" by everyone EXCEPT Sunrise and Yomiuri, the two parties that actually have a say in it. ^_^* |

Well - the rumor on the Rumic World board is that there will be an announcement on the 17th . We'll see... I noticed that. However, it's kind of useless information if he doesn't say who he heard this from or who is supposed to be announcing something. |
