Inuyasha Rant In discordant Key
Well as I need to get this off my mind. I thought i would post a rant thread. I sometimes do things to myself that need an outlet and sometimes it is things others do. But i thought I could post a thread that can let anyone who wants do so! Also it allows the bull factor to be expressed somewhere! Also I figure on here there is more chance of some one actually knowing what I am talking about, so I don't get the deer in head lights look.
Ok in the last 2 days a couple of things have come up. Last night I was watching AS to see one of My favorite bebop episodes and they had one of their little cards things. IT was RUDE. I mean it said: Things to do to become and Inuyasha fan 1. watch inuyasha, 2. whine about something, 3. rinse and repeat! I was so mad I turned it off. So AM I the only person who watches inuyasha and then expects at least some respect as a human being! I know there are crazy fans out there Man I have waded thru their rubbish posting and even been know to tell a few of them to grow UP! I know there are a base of fans for this show yet the only ones that seem to be noticed are the attention starved monsters that should be shuffled off to their own little planet! so that was number one.
Then there was what I did to myself!! being as I do not understand japanese you would think I would resist the raws wouldn't you. But No I can't if it is out and I can see what happens then I have to have it!! just have to. So like a moron I watched the 139 raw. and Geeze I wish i hadn't. Now I have to wait a Whole week again and I still havn't seen the subs in my prefred form from 135 up. now that sounds petty dosn't it. TO be sniffing and a little pouty because the people that do this out of the goodness of their hearts and the spirit are tired of doing it for grubby ungrateful idiots. But I AM NOT AN IDIOT. I swear I sometimes wish I was so I could be just a crass and stupid as some of these people.
So there is My rant! feel free to let lose with your own as I think it is good for people to let go!

Well, you know, I think they're kind of right. I've scouted quite a few Inu-Yasha boards, including the AS board a few times, and the Inuyasha fans can be quite... well... whiny. When is Inuyasha coming back on? Why did you do such 'n' such to the dub? The dubbing is horrible! Why aren't you showing the new stuff? Are you going to release the DVDs? WHY ARE YOU SHOWING REPEATS? I't pronounced ka-go-meh, now Ka-GOW-MAY. WHEN ARE THE NEW EPISODES COMING BACK ON?!?! Kouga's voice is too deep. It's been over three months, aren't you going to show the new episodes? ...y'know? Now, I'm not saying that this is like YOU at all. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're NOT like that. In fact, a good number of Inuyasha fans aren't like that. But to be honest, Inuyasha's fandom (at least the fandom that revolves around the AS releases) HAS been one of the whiniest I've ever seen. I'm kinda out of the loop regarding the English releases and only watch/read it now and then, but I do read/watch/hear about it enough now to get a feel of how whiny fans are. Like I said, I KNOW not everyone does that. In fact, the fans *I* interact with aren't like that. (Then again, most of the fans I talk to get their Inuyasha fix wihtout AS, anyway) Takes a few sour notes to ruin everything. But I personally take the VIZ B&W card as the sarcastic joke it is, and laugh at it. I'm an Inuyasha fan, and I found it hilarious.

^_^*
I'd get mad about that sort of statement if there was no truth in it. But, sadly, there is. I personally find all their Inu fan-bashing cards hillarious, simply because they ARE true. No, the accusation does not apply to me, or to you. But, can you honestly say that the general Inu fandom on AS DOESN'T whine?
I mean, it would be like if they said: How to be a girl: 1) Spend three hours primping in the morning. 2) Wear revealing clothing. 3) Flirt with every good-looking guy you see. 4) Repeat every day. I mean, none of these apply to me, but I'm a girl. I find it funny, though, because I know that the stereotype DOES apply to a lot of girls.
Stereotyping may not be very nice, but it's sure funny ^_^*

Alright you guys were right I am now(after venting) sure it was supposed to be funny. I was just not in the mood for it and it got caught in my craw. Now that I am better. I can see the humor even if I don't like it. Thank you guys for putting up with me! I get grumpy if I don't get rid of the bull when it is stuck. I think what got me was I had turned it on to catch something so not my normal inuyasha and got hit with the card.
And Patches you do make a great Point. Thanks guys!

Another thing to keep in mind is that they're most likely sick of hearing "I wANT NEW INUYHSA!1!!!!111!!!" and such.

Wilcos got a point, AS is getting spammed, flammed, threatened, and any other ways of expressing anger towards a particular group...
All of this by Inuyasha fans because AS wants to rerun the series! I dont get it...they should be happy that AS hasnt canceled the series altogether. Or if they want Inuyasha that bad go online and download the episodes!
AS can only do so much and even though its a pain to watch reruns for a month and a half, LIVE WITH IT!!!!
....Beggars cant be choosers....

true true true on all counts. But i must say I have been whining about 3 times thru on the Inuyasha. although I really hated it when they put FLCL on instead. But then I never sent anyone an all cap e-mail to whine about it. I just pouted around the house at midnight making the cats miserable! I was noticing though that Inuyasha fans seem to be the really butt of the meanness on AS lately. and as I am now trying to equate it with getting even on all the 15 year old brats with no manners. it hasn't been bother me as much.
I am still gnawing my own hand because I watched 139 raw but I figure I can only get up to my wrist before next Monday anyway Right!

they should be happy that AS hasnt canceled the series altogether. Yes, like they did in Latin America, we've got to see until Episode 104. This Monday they'll run a new series. I don't know if they canceled it because the Episodes were too much near the ones airing in Japan or what, spanish dub is known for always finish it's projects, so I don't know if they will finish the series later or what. Sigh, I would like if they did those cards thing in here, but no, we don't even have AS but Toonami, AS Inuyasha's fandom should be grateful in instead of whining

Plus, a lot of people on the AS boards complain about how the dubbing is terrible or the voice acting is bad. So, if they don't like it, why are they complaining that no new episodes are being shown? Most of them haven't even seen the Jap. version and they are going "Da DUbb SuxXx!!, Jap iZ BetTa!!" It's kinda annoying, especially the people who dub Inuyasha in America don't read the AS boards, I'm guessing. ^^;; Oh well.

Humm new pet peeve. You are all at this point allowed to groan and go on But At least I warn you!
My new pet peeve is a non disclosed cliff hanger at the end of a show. Now those of us that inuyasha fans are used to cliffies on principle. and as I have said I can't resist them regardless. But I like to know I am going to suffer for watching something. to be a happy fat Rhoda and for a cliff to just appear makes me grumpy. I mean on inuyasha with getting the titles at least we can guess where the break are going to show up. Which I must say I easier to stomach not that I won't groan moan and basiclly be a real pain about but MAN I just got broad sided!! i was watching a show and didn't even notice the time on it and so it ended and I was like "Wait You arn't done yet come back!! Finish what you started!" I know stupid to yell at a tv but i couldn't help myself.
So I had to vent and as I had already started a rant thread here I thought I would continue. besides I don't want Patches to feel unloved!!

*LOL* Oh, I know exactly how you feel. Thing is I think the manga chapters are even MORE guilty of that cliffhangerness!
Since I read the manga, I kinda already tend to know what's going to happen in the anime (unless it's filler, but the cliffhangers on those usually aren't as intense), but the manga chapters are like... so quick!
They leave you going, "I WANT MORE NEXT WEEEEK!"
---
Oh, I hope you don't mind me rambling a little bit here, but I thought I might just mention it because I dont' think it warrants a new topic.
I went to go pick up the two new Inuyasha DVDs the other day and got the strange news that the entire batch of vol. 15 that got sent to the store was defective. So I went to another store, and they didn't have 15 out, either. Did anyone else try to get vol. 15 and got that same report? Hehe, not that I'm whining, I just wonder if all the vol. 15's that got made were defective.
How bizarre.

[Sango points out that lotsa AS whiners complain about the dubs...]
The sad thing about that is, really, the dubs are pretty good. I think the scripts could have been better in a lot of places, but I rarely have a problem with the acting (Kagome excepted). Of course the English dub doesn't have the same je ne se quois of the original Japanese and often the characters (::cough:: Kagome ::cough:: ) suffer from it, but it's not a *bad* dub... It's in fact one of the best I've seen.
Now, if you *really* wanna see a bad dub... go watch the English version of Fruits Basket. ::shudder::

Ok lets not start on the English dub thing. I always wanted to see Kenshin till I got broad sided by catching an episode on CN and it saw samurai texan!! The fruits basket dub is a sore point for me and my husband as I like to listen to the Japanese and he hates it because he can't keep up with the sub titles(being a glacial reader) and they get most of it right. I don't think it is possible to get every thing right when you are going from Japanese to English anyway or if you are going from English to Japanese. That is where engrish come in. and with something like the FB you have to much stuff that is a culture reference more than literal. I don't have as much problem with the Inuyasha dubs except for the fact I HATE the english voice for Sesshomaru I think the japanese one just reeks class and upper crustness and the english one is just flat. But I figure that the regular american that wants to get into either of these anime isn't going to even realise that the other tracks are on there. Sad fact is most people don't even that most of the anime they are watching has been hacked and slashed. But hey at least if they watch the hacked and slashed we get a better anime section in the video store from their watching. Look at how the anime sections are growing. I mean we have moved from one section in the store with a crapy selection to masses of thing I have trouble keeping up with the one I want to get next. Well there are more of My 2 cents you neveer know by the time this thread is done I may owe some one a quarter!

Both subbing and dubbing are good things for their own reasons. My brother is dyslexic and has always had trouble reading. There just wouldn't be a point to showing him a subtitled anime as the text would probably go by too fast for him. Even trying would keep him from watching the action entirely. Granted, he doesn't like anime, but I can sympathize with others like him who might. Subtitles are useless to them. Their only choice is to watch the dubbed, and it's not because they're stupid or lazy, as some of the more strident sub-only dubbie-bashers will argue. Although, on the flipside of the coin, a subtitled anime would probably be best for someone hard of hearing. (If closed-captioning isn't an option.) As for myself, I thoroughly enjoy both when it comes to Inuyasha. When I watch subbed episodes, I understand the literal translations of what's being said just fine. But when I see them dubbed, what the character truly means gets through to me so much easier. Something about the more conversational English they use and hearing the tone inflections in my native language just clicks with me, I guess. But I'd never discount the original rendition. That's just as important. In fact, I've been collecting the raws and deleting the subs lately... Okay, my rant is over.

Heheh, that's kind of funny, actually... I often find the less natural, more literal translations and the original intontions make more sense to me than the English work-arounds. I guess I'm really sensitive to non-verbal communication behaviours, and I get thrown off when they don't match the dialogue. I get hung up on the littlest things. ;)
No arguments on the utility of dubs, though. I prefer the original, but I enjoy the dubs... there are a couple scenes in Inuyasha that I thought were actually funnier in English. =)
