Oh Patches, I forgot to tell you this. I recently re-watched Inuyasha Movie II and thanks to your translation of the drama about the Old Bamboo Cutter I understood the movie way better than I had before. So smile knowing your work is doing good in the world!

Thanks to Tumblr user yukisss's help, I have a script translation of the entire Asatte drama up here, with audio for track 5 only.

THANK YOU!!! Great job Patches with getting a hold of this drama so soon and doing the translation. I am so impressed with your dedication to Inuyasha. It is so deserving of it.
I enjoyed Asatte, but I am so glad it's not canon. I don't know if I like the idea of Sess proposing to Rin, though it sounds like something they both want. But I do like the idea of Sess getting all emotional and at least thinking about love.
You know this definitely makes me want to see more of this cast of characters! I can't wait to hear the rest of this drama, though I realize it may not be for a few years.
I love Inuyasha so much - I can wait.

Yes, thanks for all of your hard work, Patches. You can always be depended on. inu4evah: It's kind of strange to me to hear Sesshoumaru talking and thinking about love... Of course, I realize this is supposed to be a kind of silly portrayal of him. It just had me squinting in a kind of perplexed way, you know?

Agreed, totally out of character for Sess, but then it's supposed to be I guess. Funny though the rest of the characters are completely in-character.
At least we can take comfort in that it's not canon, and it's most likely the last we'll probably hear from our beloved Inuyasha gang.

I just read two blog post about the whole Rin/Sess/Kagura pairings (thanks to overninethousand), and I don't think Asatte is gonna sit too well with some folk, myself included.
Methinks perhaps the producers went a little too far this time in responding to fandom. I still like seeing the softer side of Sesshomaru, but just not in a romantic way with Rin. Fatherly yes, which is how I am reading Asatte.

"Funny though the rest of the characters are completely in-character."
I think the joke was on Sesshoumaru this time, so it doesn't surprise me.
I wish I could read Asatte with a father/daughter element to it, but word choice has me constantly bumping up against the romantic interpretation. The way Rin says she's bashful, and the way Kagome says it's a proposal, put into context by her and Inuyasha's own trouble with "proposals"...
It's all good, though. I'm also glad it's not canon. Not that people haven't claimed it is.

Initially I saw it that way too until I realized that Rin asking Kagome about she and Inuyasha being married and how he proposed to her are just the kind of questions a young girl would ask, especially as Rin is getting to know the Inu-gang. And Rin being bashful at Sess's sentiments, methinks is a natural response too. Remember Sess is not Rin's father and furthermore he's a strong demon who has shown little emotions up to this point. What Sesshomaru says to her is everything a father figure would say to a little girl he has come to love and care about her well-being, and to hear that kind of sentiment coming from Sesshomaru pretty much has all of us blushing...come on admit it! And what he says to her is nothing new. Sess has ran to Rin's rescue over and over throughout the series, the only difference now is he is putting it into words. All I see him doing is reminding Rin that although they are apart he will still coming running anytime she calls; anytime she needs him, he will be there. What good father wouldn't say that to his daughter or son for that matter. Now just about the only thing I find a tough pill to swallow is Sess asking Jaken about being a bachelor and Sess's desire to talk to his father about the way he made his feeling known to Inuyasha's mother. That has romance written all over it and I can't find any other way to spin it...except maybe he said it and went there to throw Jaken for a loop, never expecting the Inu-gang to show up with Rin. Yeah, it is all in good fun, and makes me miss the hell out of InuYasha! I am finally getting around to watching Bleach which is good, but Ichigo is no Inuyasha.

True, all of those things in Sesshoumaru's little "tongue-twister" speech were very neutral in the nature of his affection, so I didn't really didn't even blink at that. The references to Jaken's bachelorhood and his father's feelings for Izaiyoi kind of made it clear what the purpose of this radio drama is, though, and I'm just a bit disappointed by it. They're kind of difficult to ignore, frankly.
I've been missing Inuyasha for a while, so I can definitely sympathize with you there. It's nice to find other people to talk to about it, too, because while being on the FF.Net forums has been alright, there's not a lot of real talking going on there.

You know I was thinking.....if enough people feel like we do and they raise a real stink about it in Japan, maybe the producers will be forced to make another one to save face with the fans. Yay! Wishful thinking I know, but keh, a girl can dream! Yeah I know what you mean, I remember back in the day downloading Inuyasha fansubs from Kazaa and yakking up a storm on the IY4ever forum....ah, the memories.

I would be down with that for sure! Yes, wishful thinking, but man does it feel great...
Man... Now you got me all nostalgic. I'm going to have to watch my Inuyasha DVDs all day to appease my inner child/teenager/Rush Fan.

I am here to encourage to do it, man! You are so going to enjoy it.
Thank goodness for Hulu Plus, I fall asleep with Inuyasha every night and have the most pleasant dreams! Inuyasha makes me happy, which I need after watching a few episodes of Ichigo getting slightly on my nerves.
Enjoy your reprisal of youth! It's good for the soul.
