Just as a heads-up, since I haven't found anywhere on the internet that stores or translates the Inuyasha audio dramas, I have begun compiling the tracks and translating them as audio posts over on Tumblr. There is a sidebar for quick navigation to each drama so you don't have to hunt through the posts. Each drama also links to a translation note and information post to accompany it.

Thank you so much, Patches. This is how I found your site and joined today to say thanks. I was looking for anything I could find for the audio dramas and was super happy to come across you site with the audio and transcripts. Big hug and thanks for translating the manga too!

Ah, yes, I should probably get around to getting another drama translation done. I have all of them except "Asatte", which I've only found three tracks of. That one's probably going to be hard to come by since it's a collector's item and people are trying to maintain its resale value by not putting it online. Rrr. I've tried to buy it on auction sites a couple of times, but it's reselling for, like, $300.

Ouch! $300 is a bit much, but give it about 6 mos or so after the newness has worn off.
I gotta tell you the dramas are absolutely hilarious! So please, when you find the time...I would love to hear more. I don't know which one I love most, the Hot Springs or the Sesshomaru cd.
Is Asatte another cd drama album like Jigoku de Matteta Shichinintai? Which has me wondering since we are still seeing Inuyasha remnants in 2013.... is Inuyasha still popular in Japan?

Is Asatte another cd drama album like Jigoku de Matteta Shichinintai? Which has me wondering since we are still seeing Inuyasha remnants in 2013.... is Inuyasha still popular in Japan? Heh, I think my favorite one so far is the Taketori Monogatari one, which I didn't even know existed until I went out to compile all the dramas. "Asatte" is a short drama album, at only five tracks long. It basically just gives a bit more closure to all the characters' relationships after the end of the series. So, I included it in the "Album" section since it's multi-track, unlike the others which are just short 10-minute one-shots, but it's only about 20-30 minutes long. The other two drama albums I've yet to do, "Arashi to Matsuri no Hourai-jima" and "Aka to Shiro no Utagassen" are practically identical in content, which is a bit annoying. The "Hourai-jima" drama is at least decently amusing, but the "Utagassen" one just feels like it's treading over exactly the same ground again without much else to add. The Anime Scramble dramas are parodies done on the yearly Anime Scramble radio show with that year's voice actor guests. Because they're written by a third party, their plots generally bear zero resemblance to the series. And I do think "Inuyasha" is still enjoying some modest popularity in Japan, despite it having been finished for five years.

Thanks...I have you bookmarked and I look forward to more righteously funny dramas. But it saddened me to hear that Asatte is closure for the characters! Honestly, I want so much to see a new story, a new series of Inuyasha, like they did with Naruto. And with Inuyasha still enjoying some popularity in several major countries, I want to believe that it is possible. Especially since the likelihood of Rin-ne getting an anime isn't looking too good....or is it? I wonder how Ms. Takahashi feels about Inuyasha....is she really done with the Inu gang, as well...in her heart, that is?

Hey, just joined. I'm glad you're doing the Drama CDs, Patches. I always wondered what those things said. I was just wondering if Asatte was the one that came with the Wideban manga collection? I was also told over on the Fanfiction.net forums that it has Sesshoumaru proposing to Rin, and I was wondering if that could be confirmed.
Thanks again, Patches.

I was also told over on the Fanfiction.net forums that it has Sesshoumaru proposing to Rin, and I was wondering if that could be confirmed. Thanks again, Patches. Yes, "Asatte" was what came with a preorder of the entire Wideban collection. If you want it, there's currently a copy on Yahoo!Japan Auctions going for $600. So far no complete versions have been shared online, although I did manage to swipe the last two tracks that someone temporarily posted on a Chinese message board, and those two tracks contain the proposal in question. It's up to interpretation whether or not it's supposed to be a marriage proposal, although it's pretty heavily-implied. Basically, Sesshoumaru starts getting anxious about leaving Rin in a human village and confides in Jaken that he wants to take her back. Jaken asks if he intends to make her his bride, but he asks it by doing an over-the-top quotation from a famous Japanese play, so it's debatable whether Jaken's interpretation was meant to be taken seriously. Sesshoumaru wants to ask Rin to come back with him but doesn't know what to say, so he takes his mother's Meidou Stone and uses it to transport himself to his father's grave so he can ask his father what he said to Izayoi. Before he can, Inuyasha's group comes falling out of a Meidou due to some other stuff that happened in earlier tracks that I don't have. They smash Inuyasha's father's skeleton, and Rin suggests they have a tongue-twister contest to decide who has to fix it. Sesshoumaru goes for it and talks so fast that no one can hear what he said. Inuyasha and Kagome lose and have to fix the skeleton, but Kagome secretly recorded Sesshoumaru and plays it back at slow speed, and it turns out to be a lengthy confession to Rin that he'll always be there for her and she's welcome to come back to him whenever she's ready.

Yeah, thanks, I think I'll pass on that one. Kind of have to pay rent and stuff.
Besides, the content doesn't REALLY sound like something I'm interested in, considering I interpret Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship in a fundamentally different way.
I'm really enjoying reading through the others, though. The Shichinintai one is pretty hilarious so far. Keep up the good work!

Their translation is close enough. It looks like they were translating a Chinese transcription, which was in turn a translation of a Japanese post, so it's got a couple of lines that aren't quite accurate, but close enough. I have a pdf file that has the Chinese translation of the entire drama, but unfortunately I can't read it.

I'm really enjoying reading through the others, though. The Shichinintai one is pretty hilarious so far. Keep up the good work! I agree. I interpret Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship a lot differently as well. I'm not to big on the love relationship so many others see. She's just a little girl to me and the only human that Sesshoumaru has ever befriended. I think Rin is very special to him, but not a romantic interest. I think of Kagura as his romantic interest and it was his caring enough for her to want to avenge her death that won him the Bakusaiga. Of course Kagome would interpret what he says as a proposal because she's a romantic and it's a comedy. Sesshoumaru most likely misses Rin's company and this is what I like to think that he is proposing for her to continue traveling with him. Sesshoumaru has finally come to realize that he needs someone to protect much to the approval of his father and Inuyasha, I bet. And it's funny how Sesshoumaru, not even a main character is the one in the series who got the most character development. He grew more than any of the main characters, Inuyasha and Kagome, Sango, Miroku and Shippo.

Good to know I'm among friends here. I guess I don't see how a romance interpretation is necessarily "cute" to a lot of people. It seems more sinister to me.
Of course, I can't speak for other peoples' reasons, so to each their own.
If Sesshoumaru goes to his father's grave to ask how his father proposed to Izayoi, though, I'd say that's pretty indicative of a romanitc interpretation in this particular radio drama. Can't know for sure, as I'm not sure what's accurate and what's not in this translation going around.
I can't say I'm surprised by the producers of the radio drama trying to make this couple official, though. As I recall, they put an awful lot of hints toward SesshoumaruxRin in the anime where there didn't seem to be in the manga. They were always shippers as far as I could tell.

Yes, I would say the anime producers gave in to the demands of the fans a lot better than the manga, which tended to play down the romance. I guess because the readership of the manga is probably a little different than the viewers of the show. The show had much greater international appeal than the manga, so I guess they could push the envelop a little farther. I am so glad they were shippers!
If they did drop hints about a thing between Rin and Sessy, I sure missed it.
And yes you are in good company...thanks for dropping in. I too love the dramas....and I love Kagome. Next to Sessy, she is my favorite character.
Okay Patches....you promised more (though I know you're busy). Here's your soft demand for more dramas!

Actually, I'm on vacation this week, however I will start putting up "Arashi to Matsuri no Hourai-jima" and "Aka to Shiro no Utagassen" after I get back (I usually post one new track per day).
Also, I found a Chinese translation of the entire "Asatte" script. However, I can't read Chinese. Thankfully, since I was helpfully linked to a person on Tumblr who had already translated a Chinese post regarding it, I got in contact with her and she agreed to translate the Chinese script for me. So I will also be able to pose "Asatte" at least in textual format once she gets back to me with that (however, the accuracy will be questionable considering it's a translation of a translation).
