I'm getting a lot of spam in my Dear Papa inbox, which is robbing people of the opportunity to send legitimate letters. Therefore, I've implemented some code to try and deal with this problem.
First, blank messages are now automatically discarded. I'm under the impression most of these come from spambots, anyway, but if you get a message saying that your message was blank when it wasn't, please let me know.
Also, while I'd hoped replacing the submission box with the acceptance screen would dissuade people from spamming my inbox multiple times in a row, people are still reloading the page and sending me three or four messages at once. Therefore, to combat this, my inbox now "remembers" the last person who sent a message and will not allow them to send again until someone else has sent something. And, no, you cannot get around this just by changing the name you sign the letter with.
My inbox can only accept 10 letters at a time, so these new safeguards have been put in place to help ensure people have a better opportunity to get their messages sent, since lately it's been filling up within a day of being reopened, mostly with spam and strings of letters from one person. However, my Perl-fu is weak and if people are encountering any difficulties that they don't think they should, please let me know.

Sooo I dunno if this is the right place for this but there's no "Ask Papa" comment thread so here goes.
So for the topmost "Ask Papa," when you say there are no normal dogs in Inu-Yasha, did you mean nobody ever calls attention to a normal dog, or no normal dogs ever appear in-panel? Because if you meant the second, there are normal dogs in the major towns the group goes to on more than one occasion. For example, there's a white dog in the town Inu-Yasha and Kagome chase Miroku to when he first appears, that you can see in the panel where the crowd stares at Inu-Yasha while he sniffs the ground. There's another, spotted dog in the top panel in the two-page spread at the beginning of chapter five, volume six. In volume 11, there's a third, scrawny dog in the first panel the group is in town after Miroku gets cut by the mantis.
So...in summary I'm a gigantic geek.

I am impressed by your "gigantic geek" skills! ^_^ I was watching episode 35 (where Koga's wolves kill Rin T_T) and started to wonder about it. Koga's got his wolf minions, but for all the dog and dog skills references are there actually any dogs? Certainly there are no doggy minions, but at least the whole world isn't dogless- that would be weird. Then I started to wonder about Koga... Can he transform into a wolf form as Inu-papa could and Sesshomaru can? We never see him do it. He never even uses his own claws, does he? Poor guy... Maybe I'll ask Papa...

You're definitely more observant than I. But, yes, I kind of took it to mean that there weren't any normal dogs that anyone ever interacted with in the series, aside from the caged dogs that Kagome "sat" in one of the movies. I mostly used that as a segue into the later question dealing with Sesshoumaru's supposed ability to talk to dogs, and using it as a "Whoa, wait, back up, when has anyone ever talked to a dog in the series? In fact, since when has anyone done anything with a regular dog in the series?" I don't have a problem with people inventing abilities for the characters in fanfiction as long as there's a logical explanation for them, but for pete's sake, don't talk about them like they're a given (I'm looking at you, "mating marks").

Augh. So, Dear Papa has been updated, kinda, but you wouldn't know that because my FTP went down in the middle of the update and I haven't been able to reconnect since. So, the new responses are there, but I haven't been able to get back in to reset the submission form or update the Info page. Hopefully things will start working again, soon.

FTP's back up, but for some reason it's now stripping the iframe code from my websites, so the submission form keeps getting deleted. I found a backdoor way around it, though, so for now everything should be good. Let me know if anyone has problems.
