Heh, I can give you the only hint I've given Sayuri so far, in that if you think you know what's going on with my mom but it doesn't prompt an "Oh my god, that's effed up" reaction, you're probably wrong. Or have no heart. I'm keeping what I think is going on to myself for the time being....While I don't rule out your mother as actually having done those things I'm just keeping in mind what you said back on Inu-goya about her pretty much being a guard dog in a human village, which makes accepting the idea of her running around and attacking villages in the story's present hard for me. You have hinted that she might have not been a normal dog so... I have several ideas as to what's going on...Either the story Akagane told is 100% true and your mother was just biding her time in your old village before she attacked them all; in which case I wonder what her motive was. Or, I know you said that your Father was the leader of a pack of wild dogs (in the mountains I think) so I'm thinking that maybe he's the one attacking everyone and your mother is chasing after him? Or my last theory is that your mom is tearing apart all these places in her attempts to find you :3. However, while it is a sweet notion, I think its the least likely of them all. And there is the fourth option of me being completely and utterly wrong because you are the author and have the right to change the story and the information that I can remember on your parents isn't exactly up to date ^^;;. Either way, the whole thing has me thinking which is nice . At this time in my life there isn't all that much to stimulate my brain cells.

Either way, the whole thing has me thinking which is nice . At this time in my life there isn't all that much to stimulate my brain cells. Well, I'm glad I've got people thinking. ^_^* And while I do admit to the right to proactively change the story, given that I only have rough details of the entire plot in my mind and have to work out all the finer plot points chapter by chapter, I am not going to retroactively change anything. If something I said in a previous chapter is inconvenient to something I've come up with, then I'm just going to ditch the idea rather than physically rewriting an existing chapter or pulling some BS to explain away a prior contradiction. And while there have definitely been a LOT of changes to the plot with regards to how I had first envisioned it, I've been trying to keep it internally consistent the best I can, as well as consistent with canon. Which I hope doesn't come back to bite me in the butt. While I've been continuously dropping subliminal hints with regards to the bigger mysteries in the story so far, I hope they're sensical enough that once everything is revealed people can go, "Oh, whoa!" in realization instead of "Wait... what?" The next chapter, though, I'm predicting will be the hardest one yet for me to write because it deals with some kind of tricky character development that I both want to make sense and come across obviously, but not be too heavy-handed.

Oh dear. "Things don't look good for our hero." There's nothing more depressing than finding out someone you love IS A TERRIBLE PERSON! Of course witnessing something like that supposedly at first-hand, doesn't always clear the situation. Witnesses often get thing confused, especially under very emotional circumstances(does dying count?). And another thing, If your MOTHER was the youkai parent, what was your father? Maybe he was youkai too. So you may not be hanyou after all. That may have some determination on What Is Going On Here? And what will happen in the future. As for "da bells," I just figured that since you had absorbed Yachouon's essence, as well as his power, it would be easier (not easy) to figure out how they worked. Also you had been hanging around him long enough to maybe get some idea of what he might be doing. Obviously Eika had no idea how to use them, she was just working with sound, not the essence of the bells. Am I clear? I don't trust her. She obviously has an ulterior motive. Like using the bells to "eat" more souls?

Self-serving little twit. She did nothing, and capitalized on what happened. So that makes her almost as bad as the demons that did it. I hope your not as "honorable" as your younger son, and do NOT keep your promise of becoming her boyfriend. I note that she didn't dump you totally. Of course, a being that seems terrible from a "human" point-of-view, might be a perfectly good parent. Hmm, I wonder if Akagane heard everything, or at least the important part. Ahhhhh....! More Questions! More Questions! Heehee! ;D

How do you get comments up so fast? Do you have my site updates on RSS or something? Since it seems like no matter when I post a new chapter (though it's usually Tuesday nights), you're here within a few hours to comment.

Alright so, your description of how you were feeling abandoned coupled with the picture made me tear up a bit...granted I'm in a bit of a rocky emotional state; but my point is simply that it was a very touching chapter. I'm happy to finally know 'why' Ekia was after the jewel and got sad for her reasons...T.T. What ever happened to "Bros before Hoes" or "Chicks before D***s" ? Baaah.
I'm still holding out on my opinion of what's going on with your mother...for me, nothing has finitely said "She is the one attacking villages." Sure, all the clues are pointing at her but..well innocent until proven guilty and all that....
I'm interested in what has caused the sudden hint of compassion in Akagane. Though, even if he hadn't seen that last exchange between you and Ekia before she bailed on you; I'd like to think that the image of you, a small boy, sitting heart broken and pathetic in the pouring rain would have been enough to maybe change his perspective of you. Plus the fact that he has had time to mull over everything you had said before you two parted ways and come to his own conclusions.

I know! The drawing made me want to huggle him forever! *is a sap*
Yeah, trying to track down the jewel to win someone's affections is never a good idea. But it has crossed my mind that Eika is pretty lonely (even if she apparently can't handle emotions).

I mean its not like that's the first time one person took advantage of some one else's love for them and used it to try and gain something. In this case it was the Jewel, but translate it over to the real world. Guy likes girl, girl doesn't like guy. Guy is willing to lavish girl with expensive gifts. Girl likes the attention so she leads him on. Its sad no matter who it happens to but at the same time she said why she wanted him, he was strong and he was attractive. She strikes me less as some one who is genuinely lonely and more as a girl whose in love with love and really wants a guy to put her on a pedestal and tell her how pretty and capable she is because she doesn't believe it herself.

Despite her fawning, she hasn't known me for long enough to have much of a personal emotional investment in me, so when things started to get too deep, she got uncomfortable. It's no different than chatting a stranger up on the street and then they start going into their personal problems or randomly start evangelizing. You just kind of shift and nod uneasily and wish they would go away now that the conversation isn't so superficial.

Only the Shadow Knows! Ha ha ha ha ha! ;D Really, I am fortunate to have a "nine to five" (actually 6am to 2:30pm) job Mon.-Fri. And it is "Boring!" So when I get home I almost always go on the PC to let all the "boring" drain out. Heehee. Your site is one of the first I check. InuYasha has long been a favorite of mine, and I consider your site, especially the forum, to be excellent. Several of the threads have been very knowledgeable (and entertaining! What goes on in the mind of these people???). As for Eika, I got the impression that the man may have merely said that to make her go away. He didn't expect her to nearly succeed, and come back. I have a feeling she is going to be more trouble in the future. And so I will see you in the "Future!" Haha!

So, I got an interesting PM today on DeviantArt from someone asking permission to draw their own piece of fanart for the Memoirs. Naturally, I was flattered, but it got me thinking that if anyone really wanted to do their own art for it, there's not much in the way of reference images for a lot of the characters. So, to help with that, I just doodled up a bit of a design concept for Akagane, since he has by far the most complicated outfit of the group. More to follow, I'm sure. Sorry for the really shoddy lineart and coloring, but this was mostly just to give the general breakdown of his character design and coloring, so I didn't spend much time on making it look "good": Though I honestly just kinda made up his rear view as I drew this, since I've never drawn him from the back before. ^_^* I can chalk up the fact that he has yet to carry his spear on his back to the fact that it's a new addition to his outfit, since most of his armor was destroyed during his first appearance and he has since re-forged it.

Another character design profile, this time for moi. Because if you're planning on drawing anyone, it's gonna be me, right? Cuz I'm the main character, yo. Bells and other temporary accessories not included in this design since they aren't technically "standard" on my outfit. If you're intending to do a "bell era" version of me, Kakyou (silver) goes on my left hip, Genkyou (gold) goes on my right.

Ahhh...., Kawaii! Who could think that someone as cute as you could be evil? ;D
Does Akagane's getup have all the little "extras" that Sango's has. Or will he have to invent them all? haha.
Hope things will get better, for awhile, before they get worse again.

Hope things will get better, for awhile, before they get worse again. Evil? ;__; I'm not evil. Well, not intentionally. Akagane's getup is a bit different from Sango's, yeah. He doesn't have the concealed blades in the arms like hers does, and the armor setup is quite a bit different. He also doesn't carry a weighted chain like she did, but he does have the gas mask, which he used in his earlier appearance (but subsequently dropped in the forest). And things will settle down for about one chapter before things get a loooot worse for our intrepid heroes.
