Well, with my schedule, chapters are probably going to end up on three-week or one-month cycles, since it's gotten difficult for me to find the time and appropriate mindset to churn out chapters on a weekly basis like I used to. But thank you so much for continuing to follow the story. ^_^ That said, chapter 85 is up, and I finally gave in and put Souzou Tennou in a chapter image, despite his very appearance giving away what happened to my mother if someone was just clicking through chapters to look at the pictures. ^_^* That and, good lord, he takes forever to draw. Hopefully I can avoid having him in chapter images as much as possible (have still managed to avoid Hisui's dad, since I'd rather leave it up to the imagination what he looks like ), although the fact that he's the "final boss" will make that difficult.

Hi Papa! . . . Mmm, hey, I'm finally posting on your board...
Chapter 85:
"No. I don't understand you at all."
Niiicccee. ;D That's great. I love that line. How long have you been planning that little exchange?
As usual your spelling and grammar are excellent, I can't find much.
Why of all the Boss's creations who dare defy him with such imperfections[,] will you not just disappear?!"
And perhaps:
Hisui's father was forced to fall back as the edge of my barrier continued to be pushed back towards the mountain.
It's difficult to think about pacing and emotion in such long pieces, but your consistency and long range arcs are quite good. I still strive for that myself.
Heh, I'm wondering if Akagane ever loosens up. Even in the middle of battle he's still formally stiff.
mmm, did you use 'monstErous' purposefully?
Oh, and, wrong word, 'empathically' => empathetically, as in empathy. (Recounting when mother inu died.)
Ok, hopefully that was useful to you. ^^; Let me know if you'd like it toned up or down in detail for the future. <3

Ciraaaa! Hey, good to see you here! And, just so that people know, I write chapters straight into Notepad to manually HTML-format the text as I go (rather than have bloated auto-generated stuff), so there is no spell- or grammar-checks done to it. Having Puppy beta it before I post it is all I get, and she usually doesn't find much. So, what goes up is usually an unedited "first draft" About five seconds before I wrote it. There is very, VERY little in this that has much prior thought put into it, aside from the general direction the story takes. I write with overall key plot points in mind, but any details in the action and dialogue tend to made up on the fly as I'm writing it.

Yes, the HTML-in-notepad method is tried and true. i do the same but in emacs where i can have text-folding and realtime-spellcheck
So, um, in the spirit of giving back... if you would, also, like me to proof read, I'd like to contribute.
*chuckles* Ok awesome one. I doubt I'll ever achieve that level of off-the-cuff perfection. I have to go back and iron out even major plot elements. Ever read the first draft of Starwars, A New Hope? Major changes there. This is why I'm so enthralled by foreshadowing -- it implies a heavy dose of knowing how things are going to turn out.

Major changes there. This is why I'm so enthralled by foreshadowing -- it implies a heavy dose of knowing how things are going to turn out. I've found that if you've ironed out characters enough, you can write them off-the-cuff and their actions come naturally, and whatever they end up doing tends to naturally foreshadow what's to come. A lot of stuff in this story that looks like foreshadowing is actually me coming up with something later and then realizing I could use a past event to make it look like I knew what I was doing all along. I mean, the whole Yachouon/Kogane thing? Yeah, Akagane didn't even have a sister in my mind until he showed up at his village, and that's when that whole plotline was invented. This story is just time after time of me coming up with something, looking over what's already been written, then going, "Eeexcellent, I can use this and pretend I knew what I was doing all along."

Mmm, maybe I need to refine the personalities of some of my characters.
Wow, that's a really free-flight method. I'll have to try it. My current way is extremely iterative / manipulative. I create an outline and start filling it in. I'll rewrite bits, move bits around, and generally tweak things.

Hi there. I really joined up here just to say how much I am enjoying the memoirs. I just found them yesterday, and am up to about chapter 8.
I had been looking around online, in hopes of finding some really *good* fic based on Takahashi characters/storylines, and it's nice to find something that is really well done (not an easy thing to find, at least in my experience so far!). I hope you keep writing, because I am really enjoying the story.
Thanks!

Though if you're at chapter 8, you've got a ways to go to catch up. ^_^* Speaking of catching up, chapter 86 is finally up, now that I figured out what to do with it. Writing off-the-cuff does make things spontaneous, but it does take a while to figure out where to go with it. ^_^* Cult of Personality, meet Cult of Jailbait Puppy Boy.

So, while I'm stuck with working overtime this week and completely burning out and therefore not really having much energy to think or write, here's Hot Nerd Akagane: His finger is obscuring part of the title, but the book in his hand is "Basics of Accounting". It was originally going to be "Metallurgy", but I figured he should be studying something he actually needs to learn.

Woooo, now that I've caught up in the forums and the Dear Inu-papa's a question has struck me randomly *runs away from umbrella again* I know in a few of the pictures I find of Inu no Taisho online, there's a lot more people starting to reference him as "Toga" or "Touga-ou". Even in a few art forums I frequent this is starting to gain popularity. I know in one of the supposedly "official" pics it's listed as such as well. Is there plans to incorporate this even though it's not official? Or will you still stick with the mysterious title? > Then again, asking this question may be a spoiler...I didn't think on that too well... You don't have to answer if you don't want to! ^.^ Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii again anyway xD.

You don't have to answer if you don't want to! ^.^ I'm contemplating incorporating it. The entire reason this is written in first-person is to get around giving him a name and not make the narration sound completely awkward. I've had to give in an make up a name for Sessmom, though, because even though I can get away with characters never saying each other's name (mini-Papa has still never called Akagane by name in dialogue), trying to narrate a character's actions without ever labelling them as anything more specific as "that person" ends up horribly awkward and makes it difficult to have any emotional attachment to them. At least that's how it is in text. If this was a visual medium, I could get away without naming anyone since you could just see who was doing what and understand them that way. But I'm already slacking on this enough, if I did this as a comic, it would never get done. ^_^*

I have this very same problem with my comic...*hides away* That's pretty cool you're taking it into consideration. I think in the meantime I"m going to reread the memoirs again xD. I started coloring on the last fan pic and realized I wasn't actually happy with it, so I'm going to do another one and just post both xD. *Is such a slacker* x.x; *bricked*
