Given the latest chapter, you knew this was coming. I think I'll wait a bit to vote myself, though. ^_^*

Ahahahaha Patches, you read my mind! I was about to start a thread like this yesterday, when I read the chapter Well, here's my thought on it: it was painfully stated about 300 chapters ago that Sesshoumaru CANNOT die while he has Tenseiga, so no way he'll die... but he'll be seriously hurt... hehehe, and even probably humilliated, if Inuyasha saves him that is.

Yep. Can't you guys tell? 1) Toukijin broke. Sesshoumaru's NOTHING without Toukijin. 2) He's the weakest character of the Inuyasha series. How can he POSSIBLY survive? 3) He has no purpose in Inuyasha. He just wanders from room to room. 4) He has NO FANBASE. Why keep him around?
>_< Gods, I really hate that guy!

B-b-but how can you hate SESSHOUMARU? He's there to be obsessed over by fans and to have a fluffy and-and-and he still has tenseiga! He can do something with Tenseiga! Speaking of which, why is Kikyou in there? She just wanders from room to room! But is anyone complaining? NO!! Don't insult my Fluffy-sama!

Come on. 1) True, absolutely true 2) True, not sure if absolutely, but true. 3) True, but so does Miroku, Sango, Kikyo, Kohaku... Come on, even Kagome nowadays! 4) ABSOLUTELY FALSE! XDDD I'm a big fluff fan (given that he's probably the coolest evil character I've seen ), but besides me, he has an AWFULLY HUGE fanbase, given his bishounen status As patches said, Fluffy has the "Kill Me Off And Lose Half Your Fan Base" shield so no, he's not gonna die.

Aw, Sesshoumaru will be fine, albeit carrying his ass back home underneath his arm.
What I'm more concerned about is the one-hundred fifty-billion thousandth time the manga as ended with "kill him, Inuyasha!" Kind of fast-becoming a famous closing line. However, based on past experiences... lol, it's not going to happen. :P

I think Sesshy's going to be just fine (his pride will be a little hurt) but the dry cleaning bill for Moko Moko-sama is what's really gonna hurt! Not to mention that the the forger of Toukijin is dead. I wonder what Sesshoumaru's gonna do about that?

It seems whenever there is an issue with a sword, Totosai will soon aprear and a new power will be revealed. I suspect this is all leading to a new power with Tenseiga--either discovered or added. It would be all the more interesting because Totosai is scared to death of Sesshoumaru--hehe!

Hey everyone - I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I say something that has already been said and makes me sound like a fool. Right, now that the disclaimer is out of the way: I surmise from reading the previous posts that you are all a chapter ahead of me (I'm on "Fury") so I cannot really contribute something worthwhile. HOWEVER allow me ask for clarification on one point. How does one arrive at the conclusion that Sesshoumaru is such a weak character? Okay, okay - so he keeps saying he'll kill Inuyasha and never does but hey, if he did, there would be no story. I tend to consider that Sesshoumaru is a prisoner of narrative convention. What CAN he do but "wander from room to room," as it were? He's too powerful, and he knows too much (although he does have something of a habit of stating the obvious). He doesn't have to find out about other youkai because he already seems to know about them. He's strong enough that all but the uber-villains pose no kind of significant threat to him - consequently he is bored. The ultimate result is that he promanades around the countryside with no apparent aim. He's rather like one of the Eldar (if anyone here is familiar with JRR Tolkien's _The Silmarillion_, you'll know what I mean). Right, so - I've probably rambled on for far too long. Apologies!

Welcome to t3h Forums! ^_^ I don't think this is really a matter of peopel saying Sesshoumaru is weak. It's more that this time, there's a realiziation that he's both overestimating how strong he IS (because he is strong, no doubts about that), AND also falling to an explosive emotional "lapse" that he's not had to deal with before. Before when Sesshoumaru was one of those, "Eh, I don't give a damn about you," and he really meant it, he was indifferent enough so that he'd stay out of battles enough to not get hurt. Now that he's fighting for whatever reason he is (I'm definitely convinced that he's pissed about Moury badmouthing Kagura), he's fighting with more in mind than himself. And it's a given (by the Elements of Storytelling Rules, rule #14.4 ) that when one Fights For Someone's Honor, he will make his fanbase swoon with delight it's not a battle worth fighting if he doesn't take some hits. Him getting skewered by Kongousouha, and his sword being destroyed means that he's playing some prices for his decision. So... I dunno... that makes it more honorable and shows that he's really serious. You think so? I think it's more like he's too dense to care, rather than being bored smart enough to bide his time and make a calculated strike. Sesshoumaru's not infallable. In fact, he's been in trouble times before where others helped him out. But the fact that he's always able to keep his cool definitely gives him the appearance of being stronger than he might really be. And Inuyasha's stupid enough to scream and yell and broadcast it when he's in trouble. Sesshoumaru is smart enough to keep his mouth shut. --- But to answer the original question... I think he'll come out alive, but with both his pride knocked down a notch AND him walking away with just a tad more humility regarding his brother and himself. I doubt he'll say anything to the others to make it obvious, but there really is no way he can make it out of this uninjured. In Inuyasha, usually Ass-kickage = Character Development (and Fanservice, but that doesn't count in this topic... ) If all he's lost is his sword, then I'll be disappointed. Sesshoumaru is too much of a deus ex machina as is, and that power was starting to make me feel like he was just there to always go, "Boom!" and that's it. Now if he gets himself a little character development, that'll be awesome.

I guess the question isn't whether or not he'll come out alive, since it's pretty much 95% certain that he will, but rather how bad off he's going to be once it ends. He's obviously going to be minus his primary weapon, plus at least one sizeable wound. I guess it would be too much for a fangirl mind to ask for him to fight himself to unconsciousness and have Inu-tachi have to take care of him for a while. ^_^* Either that or Tenseiga will transport him out of danger the same way it did before: back to Rin! Heh, I can just see the cocoon opening and just the fluff falling out, then everybody like, "WTF", while Sess wakes up back at camp with just Rin there. See, that's the REAL reason Jaken's out here with him. So he doesn't disturb the Sess/Rin time.

Oooh, you know what would be a REALLY interesting twist?
You know how Tessaiga first transformed from a seemingly useless sword to something powerful because Inuyasha had the desire to protect/defend someone he loved?
What if Tenseiga had a similar effect? ;D ;D ;D
Granted, Tenseiga isn't as useless as Tessaiga in its untransformed state since it has healing properties, but in battle you can't really do much with it...AND it would make sense for Inupapa to put some sort of "condition" on Tenseiga for Sesshoumaru just like Tessaiga and Inuyasha...and Sesshoumaru's never quite shown emotion like this before...
I forget...if Totousai ever mentioned (waaay back towards the beginning) that Tenseiga is just as powerful as Tessaiga...just that Sesshoumaru doesn't know how to use it?
Edit:
Errr, rereading some of the earlier chapters regarding Tenseiga...I guess it's not really suited for fighting in any way...
There goes my theory. ^^;

pretty much, but it would still be interesting, though I really doubt it would happen. I hope we can finally get to see some poison claws again now that Sesshoumaru is weaponless
