I love Inu Yasha just as much as the rest of us, but I can admit that the manga is, and has been for a long time, dragging out. 8 years to be exact. Heck, if this thing ran in real time, Kagome would be 23 by now!
I'm a little undecided on whether or not I would actually want the manga to end. I'm desperate to find out just how things turn out in the end for our characters, but at the same time, I love reading a new chapter in the manga every week. I would miss that. I think it would be good to see Takahashi end the Naraku saga soon, and then come back with a new saga. Kind of like how Akira Toriyama wrote the Dragon Ball Z series..but better! So, what do other people think? Would you like to see it end? Or do you wish it could go on forever?

I think Takahashi's doing the same thing to Inuyasha that she did to Ranma and Urusei Yatsura. Stretch the series until it can't stretch any longer and it just collapses... I just want Takahashi to give Inuyasha a proper ending. I mean, Ranma had no IMPORTANT plot line to follow, except the basis for the series, so the ending (even though it sucked big time) was pretty fit for a story like that. Likewise, Urusei Yatsura (which I haven't finished reading yet, but heard that had a horrid ending too). Inuyasha, on the other hand, has a stablished plot and strong characters, so she can't just pull out a Ranma 1/2, because she actually HAS a story to finish this time. However, its Takahashi, and I lost confidence in her LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago...
Well, here's my answer to the post's main question (yeah, I know, I drew a HORRIBLY LONG tangent): I want it to end because I don't want the same thing that happened to Ranma happen to Inuyasha. I don't want it to end because of the latter. So... let it be what god wants...

After having read her endings to Maison and Firetripper, I'm actually quite confident in Takahashi's ability to end a story well. Maison Ikkoku had one of the most wonderful endings I could have hoped for after reading that many volumes. Although... I'd have thought she was going to drive harder for the ending after Hakudoushi and Kagura. Heh, maybe she is and we just don't know it. *shrugs* Do I want it to end? Sure, I want to see how it's going to end. But yeah, I'll be sad to when it's over in that "OMFG it's Wednesday... withdrawals... ahhhhh... NOW what am I going to translate??!" sort of way. Just kidding. Hehehe. I'll be looking forward to anything new she puts out, though. Both Roy and I are hoping this isn't her last project.

I'm with everyone else on this so far...I want to see what's going to happen in the end, and I'm ready for it, but at the same time I'll be really sad...(I'll be going through ear-tweak withdrawal:'( ). When Inuyasha does end, like Kuro said, I hope that Takahashi comes out with more stories, because she is an incredibly talented story teller.

well I forgot to mention Maison Ikkoku, it was indeed beautiful, but its the only manga I read from Takahashi from top to bottom and liked the ending... (as I said, I only heard that Urusei Yatsura had an awful ending, I haven't finished it yet)

Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha are two very different series. Whilst Ranma apparently had a dissapointing ending (dont know myself, never got that far into the series) I'm really hoping that Inu Yasha wont. I dont believe it will either, the story is too good for Takahashi to screw up now. No, I believe Takahashi will give us a worthy ending, one to look forward to! I just wish she wasnt taking so long.

I know both Ranma and Inuyasha are different. However, Urusei Yatsura had a cool story too (as far as I'm reading it does ), much funnier and less serious than Inuyasha, of course, but had a cool story. I'm just hoping she doesn't kill Inuyasha, but as I said, I'm not expecting anything.

I want to find out what happens in the end of the manga too, but I will be sad when it ends too...
Oh and I thought that the endings for Ranma 1/2 and Urusei weren't bad. I liked them even though one of the pictures on the last pages is like almost exactly the same in both of them except with different characters...

I dunno, I consider Ranma and UY to be "gag" manga. I mean, both of them had a plot, but the plot is more comedic than anything else. Ranma's about this guy that changes into a girl, and UY is about these weird aliens that come and disrupt this guy's life.
I believe Inuyasha's much more different from these two. I mean, it's got its comedic moments, but at its heart, it's a tragic horror and action manga. IY's pretty serious and gorey...I mean, how many decapitated body parts have you seen in Ranma or UY?
Also, Ranma (and I think UY) don't have a "bad guy" that was apparent throughout the whole manga, whereas Inuyasha's got Naraku...who was essentially the cause of the entire story. Killing him off at the end would probably satisfy 50% of the crowd. The other 50% depends on how relationships will work out in the end, and what happens to everyone.
But to answer your question, yeah I want the manga to end. I really do. I want to see what happens to everyone, and everything's just getting repetitive at this point.

I'm up for the manga to end as well. As much as I've grown obsessed with Inuyasha over the years, I'm about ready to call it quits. I too am confident in Takashashi's storytelling, and am also pretty sure that she'll handle everything pretty well.
Kind of glad we got a little more about Shippou -- but still - I don't know - the whole idea about him losing his parents was practically dismissed. Sure, he was intent of revenge, etcetera, and all that came back in the most recent chapters, but the actual loss of his parents never seemed to affect him too much. Young or not, kind of odd, isn't it?

Well, half of me wants the manga to end(1.To see what will happen to everybody. 2. I don't want to spend the money on takoubans all the time) and the other half doesn't because she shall miss it. But if Ms. Takahashi decieded to continue with it for as long as she lives, then it wouldn't have a proper ending. Of course, looking forward to a new chapter in Shounen Sunday every week is enjoyable. But it would be nice to have a nice ending. I have'nt finished reading Ranma 1/2, but from what you guys are saying I'm not looking forward to finishing it. But with IY popularity in the world right now, it's highly possible that Takahashi won't let her fans down.

Yes, I want the manga to end because I'm the time of person who likes to know how everything turns out. I want to know what happens, and I want the characters who have faced such trouble and suffering to find some peace. I'm not always a fan of happy endings, and in this case I think we'll see a blend of tragedy and triumph - as we have throughout. Still, of course I really will miss the manga. I just hope InuGoya keeps going. . .
