Yay, I got the Special! It was... like... the "Documentary of Kikyou", with your host, Kaede-baachan. Here's some random images I made of it: Yes, we have random human Inu for the fans! Bwahahaha! "~I feel prettyyyy, oh so prettyyyyy...~" You mean there's actually an explanation for this?! *muchu* Yet more random... randomness. This was COMPLETELY random (that's Kagome, by the way). So... yeah. The complete review is up on the site, so I won't repeat it here. The episode was... I don't really know how to describe it. ^_^* Random?

Ahh great randomness there, thx Patches! Since I'm still waiting on subtitles- yep, still haven't seen episode 146- I really enjoyed the snapshots you posted (and your review!). ^.^ Ah well, I am patient.

Random is right, but I luff t3h random! Meh, I've already said what I wanted to say about the special on ear-tweak, although I know I will be heavily contested by: 1. manga purists 2. Kikyou haters 3. Kagome fans I liked this episode. Much more than I thought I would. But in a nutshell, it was the ending of the episode that did it for me. A lot of times, endings will do that to me. It's like the end of FF9. If an ending leaves an impression on me, I'll really develop a fondness for something. I'm weird in that way. There were a few things that I was like, "o.O Umm..." to, mostly having to do with the... randomness. It's like, "Oh, so that's how they think it happened." The other thing that kind of threw me was the fact that some of the lines were re-recorded for this episode. Lines in flashback that we've heard SO many times that I'm used to hearing them with a certain vocal inflection and in a certain way. Like in the end, when Inuyasha was sealed. Even when he was mocking Kikyou (as Naraku) as he stole the Shikon jewel. That was a little odd. But either way, I really liked this episode.

Not only re-recorded some of those scenes, I think they re-ANIMATED some of them, too. There were a couple that were obviously just cut-paste from the episode they were originally from, due to the kinda faded and less-sharp look of the current digital animation. However, some of the flashback shots still looked digital, meaning they either did a heckuva lot to restore them, or just simply re-did them (which might explain why there were three animation directors for this episode, even though the character designs for the original scenes were consistant throughout).

I really enjoyed this episode too. I wasn't sure what to expect from it going into it, but I really enjoyed it. I liked how, in the last several minutes, they took the original photage from the first episodes and then filled in the blanks (and yes, you could so tell what was original photage and what was re-done. Cel art and CG art have a striking contrast in quality... several years of film advancement would help too ^^; ). I felt so bad for Inuyasha and Kikyou, especially the moment when Naraku took out Kikyou. You got to see her standing there with the sea shell waiting for Inuyasha. It wasn't like she was just standing there and Naraku took her out (like it had always been in the first 100+ episodes)... there was a sad love story that was told to back it up - I wanted to skip through the scene because I knew what was going to happen and I didn't want it to. Sad stories make me love things so much more I'm such a sap. Though, one of my favourite moments was seeing Inuyasha sit on the grass next to Kikyou in his scowling puppy way glaring at her as she talked ;D it was so cute. It wasn't a long moment, but it was so "Immature Inuyasha" - something we've never seen him be like when Kikyou's name comes up. I'm really glad there was something to finally show just how Inuyasha and Kikyou were like when they were together and how it all came about. I also liked how they used "Change the World" as the ED ^.^ I almost wish they'd taken the full song and just kept going with the clips *giggles*

So they really did use Change the World as the ending for that episode? COOL! But I have a question. . . . . Did they use the same clips that were on the opening or did they use different ones? And if they were different, what kind of clips were they?

No, they were different clips. It was just a clip show of the introductory episodes of Shippou, Miroku, the resurrected Kikyou, and Sango. Nothing particularly exciting.
