Yeah... I have a slight hearing impairment and I always like subtitles, even in English movies. Plus I love foreign films, so subtitled anime is nothing new to me. Actually I think, I really don't like English. It's odd to say, being a native English speaker, but English, to me, is such an ugly language compared to... everything else. I just like listening to the Japanese... I also think that it's annoying how it seems in Japan that voice actors are high quality actors but in America they are not particularly high caliber anything (unless it's for a disney movie.) I also don't think English language va's take their work seriously--I was watching the cast interviews to Noir, both Japanese and English, and the English va's were really annoying people... I mean it's this incredibly serious, dark anime and the va's were just giggling like friends at a slumber party... wheras, while the Japanese va's were, although giggly and light at points, they tried to be deep at other points and were thanking the viewers and... I dunno I felt like the English VA's don't have respect for the work they do. People are also liking of the first way they hear it, I think. I only heard the Inu-Yasha dub once and I hated it, being used to the Japanese, but I like the Escaflowne dub (heard it first) and I liked SOME of the Noir dub, and I don't mind the Gundam Wing dub... while some people hate these. Of course I'm a purist and all, so I listen in the origional language when I can, and I know I really have no right to be a purist until I learn Japanese, but... well, I'm working on it.

I personally prefer the subs because I adore reading, and the weird thing is, even when I was trying to learn English, reading was so much easier for me then listening. I like it when they translate the anime more literally, because then I get a sense of where to use the different expressions and words, and it's a lot easier when my friends' are making me translate for them.
...I hope that made sense. XD
Inuyasha dubs are actually pretty good, and well... if you want to see a horrible dub, then watch Yu-Gi-Oh.
Or Pokemon.
The names, and the dialog, and all the editing, and... and... *screams in agony*

*LOL* Oh, I know exactly how you feel. Thing is I think the manga chapters are even MORE guilty of that cliffhangerness! Since I read the manga, I kinda already tend to know what's going to happen in the anime (unless it's filler, but the cliffhangers on those usually aren't as intense), but the manga chapters are like... so quick! They leave you going, "I WANT MORE NEXT WEEEEK!" --- Oh, I hope you don't mind me rambling a little bit here, but I thought I might just mention it because I dont' think it warrants a new topic. I went to go pick up the two new Inuyasha DVDs the other day and got the strange news that the entire batch of vol. 15 that got sent to the store was defective. So I went to another store, and they didn't have 15 out, either. Did anyone else try to get vol. 15 and got that same report? Hehe, not that I'm whining, I just wonder if all the vol. 15's that got made were defective. How bizarre.
