I've been reading Patches transcripts after reading the Viz manga release, so my comments here do not include Chapter 19 as of yet. So far, I'm really enjoying this manga as well. I love Ms Takahashi's humour, and I'm really enjoying the character personalities. There's no shyness between Rinne and Sakura. They hit it off very quickly and are very comfortable with helping each other out and relying on each other for support. I love this friendship. Rinne's very mature for his age, but he's still a kid at heart - I loved the way we saw that when he made the Thousand-Wind Stream attack. It was like Sakura had given him a Christmas present (to coin a culturally inappropriate image) when she tossed him that blanket full of money. It also led to a funny reversal between Rinne and Rokumon - usually Rinne is careful about money and Rokumon more frivolous, but this time, Rinne was the one who went a little off the rails and it was Rokumon making the observations about financial wastage. I'm really liking Masato as well. The daft bat* actually has a genuine reason to be upset with Rinne, even if he is going about enacting his grudge in a ridiculous manner. I really liked that moment in Chapter 18 where they were playing best friends to get out of all the trouble they caused. So far, this series is a hoot. I've only read two of her Ms Takahashi's manga so far, but I do feel like Rinne is a very different character to Inuyasha. Unrecognisably different. Sakura has very little in common with Kagome too. * what I also love about Masato is that his bat-imagery and propensity towards stupidity allows me to coin this popular British phrase with impunity.... even if he's not a little old lady. --- Edited to add: I should have waited until I'd read Chapter 19. So much for the comfortable relationship! Tsubasa looks like he's going to be an amusing headache.

Question: The person who gave spoiler previews of Shounen Sunday titles including Inuyasha is still at it over at 2ch and has been giving spoiler previews of Rinne almost every week. Does anyone want me to translate and post them here, or would people rather wait and be surprised? I don't mind either way.

Well, I'd personally rather be surprised, but why not just put chapter titles in their own thread? That way, anybody who wants to be spoiled could, and those who didn't could just avoid that thread.

I prefer avoiding spoilers, but if other people want them, would it be possible to set up a spoiler thread? That way everyone would be happy - spoilers available for those that want it, easily avoided for those that don't.

Well, since the only responses so far have been "no, I don't want spoilers", I'll refrain from posting them. ^_^* This week's chapter is a bit longer than normal and I'll start working on translating it now but I might not be able to get it all done before I leave for work, so it may remain partially done during the course of the day until I get home and finish it.

I have to admit, the more I read Rin-Ne, the more I find myself thinking that if a comparison really has to be made between Inu Yasha and Rin-Ne characters, then the Inu Yasha character Rinne is most like is actually Kohaku. They both have the same air of gentle spirit-meets-forced-warrior about them. Most of the time I don't even see a visual similarity between Rinne and Inuyasha anymore. I don't know if RT's artwork is evolving or whether it's simply because Rinne and Inuyasha have such different personalities, it's impossible for me to compare them anymore. Even though I sometimes do, my heart's not really into comparing Rin-Ne and Inu yasha, the two stories have such a different feel and the characters stand on their own merit in both stories, I think. Patches, if you don't mind, I have one question about a comment you made in the Chapter 21 script. The comment you made was: (note: the "stealing glances" term above is "chira-mi", which could be interpreted as "looking at someone with the 'chira' sound effect". It could be noted that while Rinne hasn't looked at Sakura at all like that, this line marks the third time in this chapter alone that Sakura has glanced at Rinne with the "chira" sound effect)Does this mean that there's a joke on the word's usage to indicate that while Rika has noticed how much Rinne has been looking at Sakura over the course of the day, she hasn't noticed how much Sakura's been looking at Rinne? I have to admit, after I read the chapter, I went back over it to see if Rinne really was peeking at Sakura a lot, and it's amusing to see that he really is. Even when he's in the background, his eyes seem to be looking in Sakura's direction... that's not to say he's necessarily focused on Sakura herself in all these panels, but he *looks* like he is - which may be what Rika has noticed. It was definitely amusing though. And I really did like one panel in particular pg 8, where Tsubasa fails to catch the teddy for Sakura. It's the panel where Sakura peeks at Rinne and meets his gaze. Next thing we see is Rinne successfully winning the teddy for her. It looks like she's got him wrapped around her finger. But I have to wonder... just how much time did Rinne used to spend at amusement parks to become so good at it!

An interesting note, on the premiere episode of Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen, there was an animated advertisement for Rinne as well, similar to the ones produced by Shounen Sunday for Inuyasha back before it had its own animated series. It was neat to see, so hopfully it'll end up online at some point.

Yes, I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing an anime for Rin-Ne. I think it would look good animated, so I hope there is one at some stage in the future.

FUNAAAAAGO!Their choice of Seiyuu for Rinne was... not really what I was imagining. I was picturing Rinne with a younger-sounding voice. The Shounen Sunday animated ads don't solidify voice actors for characters, though, since the first Inuyasha animated advertisement had people other than Kappei and Satsuki voicing Inuyasha and Kagome.

I quite liked Rinne's voice. His voice did sound a bit deep when he first spoke, but when they're talking in front of the wheel, his voice sounded much nicer. Sakura's voice is nowhere near as annoying as Kagome's voice, so that's a plus. I definitely think this series could work well animated. I just wish I could understand Japanese.

Lololol, Rinne nomming that sandwich was hilarious-looking. Jus' sayin. Also I wasn't expecting Rokumon's eyes to be green like that. Although if I recall, Inu-Yasha was dressed in pink for the first Shounen Sunday animated ad he was in so...yeah.

No, Rokumon's had green eyes in all of the color images of him in the manga so far, too. Check the cover page for chapter 9, for example: media.viz.com/flash/omv/index.php?x=rin_09

I don't usually read the scripts until after the chapter has come out, but this time I was too intrigued. Ah... Um... I definitely want to see this chapter now!

Ohh yeah. Not only is Rinne in a maid outfit, the "Hakujittou" that he uses is a magic wand with a bow and sparklies.
