That's interesting. I've never had someone insert my foot into my mouth for me. I suppose I should start taking more responsibility for what I say, or maybe just quit talking altogether. Boy do I hate looking like the moron that I am. Aww. He didn't mean it like that, he was just giving a better example of what it really means. No one thinks you're a moron. *hug*

Oh, but I AM quite the moron. Not that this is a terribly bad thing, but it does provide for a good share of humiliation from time to time.
As for the ending (back to the topic at hand), perhaps it WAS a little too passive. Besides, I'm not all that certain wishing it away really accounts for everything, though. It was a rather large amplifier of power, no? Did it hold power of its own, or was it JUST the amp? Because if it's the former, I think there was some explanation left out about where all the power of the jewel itself went...

There are worse things than being a moron. Like being inflexable, and refuse to change their mind, even when someone proved they are mistaken.
As for the jewel, if I understand what I have read, it was created by the inprisoning(?) together of the souls of Midoriko, and the demons she was fighting at the time. Considering the power of the souls of those beings, the power could be from the jewel itself.
So it could create living demons from the paintings of a second rate artist (the Hell Painter) who had very little power of his own to amplify. But it also granted "easy" wishes, like simply giving Koga extra speed and strength, when he probably could have wished for much more power.
Pehaps by wishing the jewel gone, the souls of Midoriko and the demons were released to go where ever souls go, and so it dispersed the power that way.

I suppose that would make sense, although I would think that "go away" would not be all that conducive to dispersing spirits. I certainly hope she didn't totally obliterate Midoriko.

Well, I think it might depend on the "literalness"of the wish. In the case of just wishing "go away," it could mean literally "the Jewel go away;" or metaphorically "everything go back to the way it should be." Which in a way it did, since Kagome went home to the future and InuYasha returned to the past. If Kagome had wished the Jewel to ceased to exist, then Midoriko (and the demons) would be in trouble.
Although, if I remember rightly, the Jewel itself said that if Kagome made the wrong wish, she and Naraku would be trapped in the Jewel battling forever, just as Midoriko and the demons were before. So does that mean that Midoriko and the demons would be gone? When InuYasha saw Midoriko in the Jewel, she seemed to disappear. Then, just before InuYasha escaped, the demons were destroyed, or disappeared also. So, maybe they were already gone when Kagome made the wish.
Ahhhhggg! I think my brain is melting from all this thinking, thinking....... Of course, we can speculate til the cows do whatever it is they do, but unless we receive "Word From On High," we are stuck with the "Fanfics From Hell!" speculations. Heeheehee.
At least they all lived happly ever after! Wait....., except for Naraku, .........and was Sesshoumaru ever really happy?............and what DID happen to Koga and the others? ...............and, and.............................

Naraku was a spider-monkey with a human side that harbored an unhealthy obsession. Even if he had lived, he wouldn't have been happy anyway, so I think it's safe to say that his death was a good thing for him, as odd as that sounds....
Sesshoumaru got a shiny new sword and he gets to continue to wander around and kill things, so I'm sure he's happier than he lets on.
As for Kouga... I don't know, let's make up an ending for him too. We'll say that he found a magic castle where ice-cream cones shoot out of the walls and there's a lovely replicate of Kagome in the highest tower for him to save when he gets bored. Never mind that he's in Europe somewhere for no apparent reason.

Sesshomaru also is the badass of the land, so I'm sure he's pleased with that, as much as a sourpuss like him can be pleased.
Man, I'm loving that Kouga ending! The guy up and vanished, now we know where he went!

I suppose that ending is fine... I feel like we're missing something though....

It's like the Smurfs. Hundreds of males, one female and all of a sudden we've got little ones running around...

In Final Fantasy 12, there's two apparently single-gender races in the game that nevertheless somehow have separate bloodlines and lineages amongst them. The Garif as far as I've seen are exclusively male, while the Viera are exclusively female.
Maybe the two races get together sometimes and one keeps all the boys and the other keeps all the girls. I bet the Garif all have bunny ears under those masks of theirs.

Inu-papa says: "Maybe the two races get together sometimes and one keeps all the boys and the other keeps all the girls. I bet the Garif all have bunny ears under those masks of theirs."
Heh. That just goes to show you that most people don't have original ideas.
The Greeks had that with their story of the Amazons (NOT You-Know-Who, people!). Those frightening ladies would get together with the men of a neighboring tribe and have at it. If the men proved themselves strong, everyone would have nice little partay afterwards, and nine months later, Congrats! It's A Baby! The boys would be sent back to their doting Daddys, and their Mothers would raise their little girls to be FIERCE WARRIOR WOMEN!
Hmmm.. you know, I don't remember there being any legends in Asian culture about warrior women. Women warriors, yes. Various "fierce Goddesess" killing evil beings. In fact there are stories in Japan about women who put on arms and armor for various reasons. But no "Amazons." A cultural difference?
