AS much as I love InuYasha, I think it's about time to end it. Of course, I would like it to end extremely well. I think after all this time, we need a lot of closure and not an ending that simply floats on ambiguity.
I would be very disappointed if Inu and his brother do not make up. I would be very disappointed if we don't get to know more about Sess's past, although, there is a strong inclination that we're not getting any of that.
I just hope the ending doesn't suck to hell. Because you can have a good story going but if it doesn't end satisfactorily, then the story just became a piece of crap...pardon my french.
I think what all of us want is closure.
So many things could have been done with this series but at last, Takahashi's the one who decides, whether we like it or not.

I think the shard quest/battle against Naraku has been drawn out as much as possible and it does need to end. BUT there is a lot of potential in the world and the characters that hasn't been touched while valuable page space was spent on sword upgrades. As long as the two main couples finally make some progress and we have a fresh adventure for them I wouldn't mind it continuing. Either way I want some resolutions of the current hanging plot threads.

Now, that is a loaded question. Actually, it depends; if Inu-Yasha series ends shortly after this Sesshoumaru / Rin business is over ( Kohaku's shard is taken or something, they kill Kanna & Byakuya, one more character dies or leaves, Naraku dies, and Inu-Yasha, Kagome, Miroku, and Sango make up their minds-- all happening within a short period ), then NO, I do not want it to end.
I agree, there are many things that are not explained, and some characters still need a bit of developing ( no, not Sesshoumaru, and I am being unbiased ). For example, Inu-Yasha & Kagome REALLY need to get their act together, as do Miroku & Sango a bit, and there are mysteries about Naraku and others that are yet to be indentified...I know Naraku is simply going to die and such, but other than being evil, desiring the Shikon no Tama and such, he is nearly a mystery. Also, what will Shippou do? He cannot stay with everyone forever! So I would prefer for the Manga to end when it may -- possibly between the 505th-520th chapter, since Takahashi had said " at least 500 chapters " and her recent interview indicated that it will not be ending anytime soon...
I believe that in order for the series to have a good, complete, full ending, it cannot wrap up in merely 30 chapters -- I have seen 30 chapters worth of pure stalling before...
Peace!

I guess if there were a differnt story arc, it could work. but I think that by patching up loose ends, that would be better. We don't want this to be like DBZ...Lord, have mercy with us.
I think it would be cool if there were more InuYasha movies, though.
